[African American Short Films], is the only nationally televised program featuring short films starring, produced, written AND/OR directed by African-American filmmakers. [African American Short Films] has become an audience favorite and has received several Telly Awards in the categories of Non-Linear Editing, Set Design, Lighting, Use of Music, Humor and Content.

African American Short films began airing in 2002 as a 1-hour quarterly television special in syndication. The program was created by veteran television producer, Frank Badami.
