== Mariah Carey ==

I'm confused: what is wrong with the image of Mariah Carey? I checked the image's status and it's not fair-use or of unknown source, and in fact, it's the only free image we have of her. I don't understand the removal. [[User:Acalamari|Acalamari]] 19:35, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Helpme request

{{helpme}}

Please can someone find me a bot that will archive my talkpages properly?? I did cut-and-paste archiving, but I'm not sure if that was the best thing to do!

I don't know if the MiszaBot ones are working... anyone able to advise me??

If you can add it to my talk page for the archival bot that would be much appreciated! --Solumeiras (talk) 18:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot, ClueBot III, and MercuryBot can automatically create cut-and-paste archives for any discussion page (one that has "talk" in the namespace), by moving sections to a subpage when they have received no comments for a specified period of time. See User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo or User:ClueBot III#How to archive your page for instructions on setting this up. Note: Make sure to establish consensus before setting up MiszaBot or ClueBot III on an article talk page. Hope this helps! -- The Helpful One (Talk) (Contribs) (Review) 19:01, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme request (2)

{{helpme}} I'm trying to develop a variant of {{notice}}, but unlike that one, where it changes colour depending on whether it's in the article/project namespace or article/project talk namespace, I am trying to make another template where the user can change the class according to their personal needs.

This is {{notice}}'s current code:
{| class="{{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACE}}|{{TALKSPACE}}|{{#ifeq:{{{small|}}}|yes|small|standard}}-talk}} messagebox" | {{#if:{{{header|}}}|rowspan="2"}} align="center" style="width:53px;"|[[Image:{{{image|Info {{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACE}}|{{TALKSPACE}}||non-}}talk.png}}}|{{#ifeq:{{{small|}}}|yes|25px|53px}}|Notice]] {{#if:{{{header|}}}| <!-- -->! Notice: {{{header}}} <!-- -->{{!-}} }} |align="left"|{{{1}}} |}

However, what I'm trying to do is create a template e.g. {{mytemplate|Your text here|standard}} or {{mytemplate|Your text here|messagebox-talk}}

How would you code this template?? I'm not really sure what I'm doing, so all advice is appreciated.

Also, how to I get my wikistress template to work properly - and to make sure it's easy to read. Wherever I put it, it makes section headers too hard to find, like above.

What should I do??

Thanks, --Solumeiras (talk) 13:07, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WOW thats a lot to comprehend there. Firstly, I would try, to make things easier, two templates. That will cut down on a lot of stress. Secondly, I will go and check out your wikistrss templete here in a sec. Dustihowe  Talk  18:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added the wikistress to your main page. This takes care of the merge and header problem. Move it if you like, but this seems to be your best bet. Dustihowe  Talk  18:26, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Police, Camera, Action

I see that you know a bit about these episodes - do you remember 2 un named episodes, as far as i'm aware (and from what I posses) there only was one. --88.108.50.63 (talk) 20:36, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Response from: JM62

over the recent months, there has been alot of confusion over the early episodes of police, camera, action!. the main reason why the early un-named episode has not been shown is because itv4 do not have the broadcasting rights to certain episodes from each series. there was actually many answers as to this, but i have been looking in the wiki archive and have found the answers. the later episode, police, camera action! '95 was later renamed safety last by producers soon after it's early transmission. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.144.199.142 (talk) 11:05, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

$hfmig s

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article $hfmig s, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of $hfmig s. Hi. I understand from your comments at User talk:Keilana#Recall that you disagree with the current informal set-up for administrator recall. In short order you tagged these pages with edit summaries such as "Being bold and tagging as historical":

  1. Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall: {{polarised}}, {{historical}}
    • Edited earlier today and has a very active talk page -- clearly not "historical"
    • I see little evidence on the talk page of polarization over the current text of the page.
  2. Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall/Admin criteria: {{historical}}
    • Most recently edited 3 days earlier by an admin adding an entry for himself.
  3. Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall/Past requests: {{historical}}
    • Edited 10 days earlier.
  4. Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall/Reference material: {{historical}}
    • List of reference materials edited a month ago. No new reference materials developed since, so it's still current.

"Being bold" is fine but in this case it almost looks like disrupting Wikipedia to make a point. Please discuss these changes on talk pages first. Over 140 admins have put themselves in this category; upon reflection, I think you'll realize probably more than a few would not agree with your unilateral decision to deprecate this program.

In the meantime, pending meaningful discussion on this matter, I have reverted your changes.
--A. B. (talk) 19:35, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd appreciate your not repeating that tagging, because I agree with A. B., tagging active pages as historical is indeed likely to be viewed as disruption by more than one admin. ++Lar: t/c 23:27, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dealing with advertising and spam - a tutorial

Your best bet would be to talk to Enochlau for any specific questions. What we're looking for is a well-written article about the subject, that covers the basics and teaches the average user what they need to know. See the previous two articles:

Again, you should talk to Enochlau as well, though. Ral315 (talk) 05:35, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"undiscussed changes"

Changes don't need to be discussed first. You shouldn't revert edits for that reason alone. If you have some other reason the edits should have been reverted please let me know. Otherwise I'm going to revert back. Equazcion /C 10:48, 1 Feb 2008 (UTC)

With regard to your report here: [1], what action are you requesting? CIreland (talk) 12:24, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I think the notice you placed on the account's user page is sufficient, but, for future reference, this kind of "general information" notice might be better at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CIreland (talkcontribs) 12:28, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where can I find the oldest debates that were in Wikipedia:Votes for deletion?? This is out of curiosity and historical interest. Thanks, --Solumeiras (talk) 12:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Archived delete debates. The oldest deletion debate listed is Wikipedia talk:Wikicide (vfds were for a long time held on the talk page of the article associated, rather than on a separate page). Not sure about the template request.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:27, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The history of the VfD template is available to everyone in the history of {{afd/old}}. this is the original version. I can't really post the entire history, though, because it's so long; the template has had substantial vandalism and edit wars over appearance, and it would take a very long time to view the whole thing. --ais523 14:06, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Rollback

I have approved your request for rollback. Now use the tool wisely. Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 15:34, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is for vandalism only, which would include spam (Continuing to add external links to non-notable or irrelevant sites (e.g. to advertise one's website) to pages after having been warned is vandalism). Malinaccier (talk) 15:37, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to close this as speedy user requested deletion, plus GFDL issues. If you want to view this at a later date then add a message to my talk page an I can undelete it.

For what its worth the article history is:

Closing XfD discussions

Hi there. I noticed you attempted to close an MfD as no consensus. Avruch pointed out that an admin should really close it, but there is another problem I wanted to point out. You participated in the discussion. It is generally considered improper for any one to close an XfD discussion (things lilke AfD, RfD, TfD, CfD and MfD) in which they took part, unless it is non-controversial (like a withdrawn nomination or an invalid nomination). Please ask if you have any questions. Carcharoth (talk) 23:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Solumeiras, this is the same thing I brought up to you at User_talk:Solumeiras/Archive3#Corey_Delaney_MFD just a few weeks ago. Please stop making such closures. Thanks, Metros (talk) 01:39, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your Unprot Request

Next time you look over articles with indefinite semi-protections, look into their histories and see if there are any extenuating circumstances. I declined your Lyndon LaRouche-related unprot requests because I am not comfortable unprotecting articles that have been the focus of one Arbitration Committee request, let alone three. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 01:56, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rihanna

Might I ask why you have added all those templates to the article? Most are unnecessary, and even worse, they make the article look ugly (you have to scroll down to read the page now, as the top is blocked by the templates). Acalamari 18:35, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thank you for the explanation. It's just that when I went to view the article, I couldn't see it because of the templates. :) I do agree the article needs some work, and a template or two should help. Acalamari 18:39, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I apologize if I came across as aggressive at all: that wasn't my intention if there was any. Acalamari 18:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's a relief, thank you. :) Well, I'm not working on any particular articles (I mainly edit what interests me), but I suppose that while we're on the topic, the Rihanna article might be a good one to take there, as I have it on my watchlist and edit it a lot. Javascript request - helpme

{{helpme}}

In my modified version of TWINKLE, I created a fork of the Javascript at User:Solumeiras/twinklexfd.js. I added an option that would put my version of the AfD template onto articles - at User:Solumeiras/VfD but it isn't working! (the drop down box isn't working, try my monobook.js in your one and you'll see what I mean!)

Please can someone fix the javascript for me, and if an admin is reading this, please can they fix the part that enables me to tag pages so that I can add my VfD template. Thanks, --Solumeiras (talk) 20:53, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question - why do you want your own version of the AfD template on articles? The article templates have all been standardised and because they are all used commonly, a new template could well confuse some users. x42bn6 Talk Mess 22:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there! I've removed the {{helpme}} from this page. Those who respond to this tag are more adept at helping new users and solving content disputes. Your problem would probably be solved faster and more effectively at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Twinkle. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Hope you find your answer! --omtay38 01:01, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of User:Solumeiras/VfD

User:Solumeiras/VfD, a page you created, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Solumeiras/VfD and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Solumeiras/VfD during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Metros (talk) 22:10, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you add all these boxes to Ford El Falcon?

Why did you add the so many boilers to Ford EL Falcon? Don't you think it was overkill? The article isn't all that bad. Jason Quinn (talk) 23:28, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also many of those boxes REQUIRE that you specify the problems more accurately on the talk page. SO I would have deleted all those the next day anyway unless you discuss them on the talk page. In particular I was a bit surprised by the AD claim. Not much point in advertising a defunct model is there? Greg Locock (talk) 23:44, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mariah Carey

I'm confused: what is wrong with the image of Mariah Carey? I checked the image's status and it's not fair-use or of unknown source, and in fact, it's the only free image we have of her. I don't understand the removal. Acalamari 19:35, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
