Normanton on Soar (Template:PronEng) (known to locals as just "Normanton") is a village in the south of Nottinghamshire in England near the river Soar.
Nearby villages include Zouch, Sutton Bonington and Stanford upon Soar.
The post town for Normanton is Loughborough leading to the confusion of being in Nottinghamshire but with a Leicestershire post code.
The 1881 census reported that the village had 322 inhabitants [1]. The village is now home to between 450 and 500 inhabitants.
Normanton contains a primary school called Normanton-on-Soar Primary School, a church built circa 1200 named after Saint James, a post office and a pub called "The Plough".
