In a correspondence game lasting six months, he won two games against Hydra, a chess program considered by many to be the strongest in the world. Nickel, however, was able to get advice from other computer programs during the match. He played against Hydra Chimera, an older, weaker version of the program. Hydra is playing a third game against him.
