HC Sokil Kyiv (Ukrainian: Сокіл Київ, English: Kiev Falcons) is a professional ice hockey team based in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The team currently competes in the Western division of the Vysshaya Liga.

History

The club was founded under the name Dynamo Kiev, a name used until 1973. From 1979 to 1991 Sokil Kyiv competed at the highest level of Soviet club hockey, the Soviet Elite League of Hockey. The team made the finals for the Spengler Cup in the 1986 season. Biefly for the 1992/93 season, they were known as Sokol Eskulap (Russian: Сокол-Эскулап). From 1995 thru 2004, Sokil Kyiv competed in the Eastern European Hockey League, winning the league championship in 1998 and 1999. From the 2004/05 season through the 2006/07 season, the team competed in the Open Championship of Belarus.

Sokil Kyiv has been named as a possible expansion team to join the Kontinental Hockey League for the 2009/10 season.
