The Union Local School District serves Belmont County, Ohio and other surrounding areas. There are 3 schools in the district, Union Local Elementary School, Union Local Middle School, and Union Local High School. The schools are located on the same piece of land on Ohio State Route 149. The schools are approximately 1 mile from Morristown, Ohio. The school is nicknamed the "Jets" and is a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

History

Union Local School District formed in 1959 with the combining of Smith Twp., Belmont, and Bethesda High Schools. Flushing, Holloway, and Lafferty all joined in the late 60's. Union Local Elementary and Middle schools consolidated in 1998. Centerville(Smith Twp.), Belmont, Bethesda, and Flushing(Holloway, Lafferty) all combined to form the middle and elementary School.

In 2007, Union Local High School's football team, led by Head Coach and former Charleston Southern University standout and Boston Red Sox prospect Mark Cisar, compiled a record of 9-2 and reached the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division IV, Region 15 playoffs for the first time in school history. The Jets' only loss in the regular season was to arch rival St. Clairsville High School, 27-20 in 2OT. Union Local went on to lose their first playoff game against Waverly High School (Ohio), 27-21.
