Canada is located in North America. Being called 'American' generally means 'from the USA', and gets right up our noses, though most Europeans use the word as you do. Think of it this way: Scots can rightly be called British, but how offended d'you think they'd be if people called them English? Prince of Canada t | c 16:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I should think Venezuelans would take offence to being called 'American', too ;) We're Elizabethans now? Hmm.. I seem to have misplaced my doublet and hose.. Prince of Canada t | c 17:30, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS, I have shamelessly stolen your Adoption template. SHAMELESSLY!

Re: You beat me to it!

Yes! I understand that is the policy. I thought the line was at WP:IMOS, but I can't find it. I've definately seen it somewhere. It's probably been removed by one of these sockpuppets, but it's a totally sensible policy anyway. If you find it, will you let me know? I'd like to quote it to this user. --Jza84 |  Talk  12:18, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(Y)our article

You did more than I did, I think. Oopsie on the image... I just stole it from the Coronet page. Prince of Canada t | c 19:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Small question...

Does Wikipedia have a policy about color vs. colour, encyclopedia vs. encyclopædia, etc.? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Miquonranger03 (talkcontribs) 01:46, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Updated DYK query On 2 September, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article State Coach Britannia, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Adoption question

I see that you have a coaching process for admins. Do you handle your "regular" adoptees the same way? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clarityat3am (talkcontribs) 15:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think this will work! I accept your adoption offer. I might as well start by asking if you have any suggestions for starting out. I thought about New Page Patrol, but I wanted to see what your ideas might be. Thanks! clarityat3am (talk) 16:12, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll do that! clarityat3am (talk) 17:57, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Adoption

Hey, I actually adopted Pozilla a while back but he seems to have gone inactive. I may well adopt another user soon! —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 17:09, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just adopted four users today.. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY :( Not really, I look forward to showing them around! —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 21:07, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A particularly troublesome user...

I've been attempting to help User:KoziKaz with this fact he's been trying to add to the entry on Barney. He wants to mention that one of the characters is shorter, and the reason is unknown. I have said that I don't believe that is notable, and that he has not been able to even provide a reference. He is sending me YouTube videos to try to prove this, but instead of attempting to provide notability, he has resorted to calling me "stupid" and "gay." What do you think I should do? I really don't feel like belaboring this further. Also, I fear that I may be venturing into WP:BITE territory. What do you think I should do about this? Miquonranger03 (talk) 01:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Small steps

Can I cheer a little for myself for having an article that I spruced up be reassessed from Stub to Start class? I know it's not all too significant in the grand scheme of things, but it helps me think I'm moving in the right direction here. :) clarityat3am (talk) 03:23, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

From the point I am currently at (technically a new user, despite having been about for more than 2.5 years), what do you think I should do to be able to consider RfA? Miquonranger03 (talk) 04:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I'm sure it'd fail right now. :D I have, in fact, accomplished those tasks, and I've also read your four step admin coaching page. Miquonranger03 (talk) 13:57, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, really? I didn't think that non-sysops were permitted to contribute to RfAs. Also...my edit count is distorted, most certainly. "Somewhat" is an understatement, in my opinion. :) I use Huggle for vandalism, and when the vandal/whomever disagrees, it gives me an opportunity to demonstrate maturity, control, and diplomacy. However, I do think that I may have a bit of editcountitis, and I am trying to do my best to control this. Miquonranger03 (talk) 15:15, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hidden sections

Yeah it is sad that they are all leaving. You can create a "useful Wikipedians" section which would be less "suck-upish" ;). Malinaccier (talk) 20:42, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. Of course there's no policy against it, but I will probably never add my own picture to my userspace. It's really up to each individual user, and I cannot really advise you on this except in saying that I would not personally put up my own picture. You should always remember WP:NOTMYSPACE, and the fact that people will often judge a person by their face. There may also be some privacy concerns. In the end, it's up to you to decide. Malinaccier (talk) 21:11, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The copy is at User:Cameron/Mother-in-law-zilla, though the text is pretty ridiculous if I may say so myself. Malinaccier (talk) 19:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Haha. Alright, I'll delete it. Malinaccier (talk) 19:54, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:52, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for the award! I'm looking forward to seeing you at MOTD - as for the quotes, we've seen a fair share of Shakespeare quotes, but they'll all be listed in the archives if you're not sure. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 15:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright

I'll put it back; the image is only there while I'm building the article. Ta for the heads up, though. Prince of Canada t | c 18:16, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no, warning understood; I've added a note to the top of the page explaining what I'm doing. Prince of Canada t | c 18:19, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Curtsey message

How ya do, Cameron. We haven't been bumping into each other much these days. Infact, I haven't been too active around monarchial pages lately, as I've been hanging around the British/Irish pages concerning British Isles & Republic of Ireland. So, just thought I'd say how ya do. GoodDay (talk) 23:56, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll pass, on the backlogs, for now. GoodDay (talk) 13:04, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What can I say; my fingers are tied. GoodDay (talk) 19:59, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Groombridge

Thanks for the message. I replied on my talk page, but I just wanted to say that you're doing a good job on that Groombridge page. I'll keep looking for other refs too. Take care. Regards,MarmadukePercy (talk) 17:46, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Charles

Indeed. I'm about a keystroke away from posting it over at wikiquette. Prince of Canada t | c 20:35, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aye, I know he's not a n00b, thus the "you know better" remark. I find it interesting that he disallows any contact through his talk page. Do you think I should wikiquette him in general, or is it all too vague? Prince of Canada t | c 20:46, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I defer to your superior judgement. Perhaps you could comment on the compromise I suggested? Prince of Canada t | c 21:04, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, at the bottom of the talk page I suggested a compromise that puts Charles' information in, without giving it undue POV weight. 'Course, he tried the same tactic with Oldenburg, so I doubt that anything is going to satisfy him. Prince of Canada t | c 21:09, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Oh, interesting, it looks like the same error slipped into the House of Glucksburg article as well. I'd rather not invite any further Wrath of Charles down on my head; perhaps you can fix it? Prince of Canada t | c 21:29, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, those were precisely what I meant. 'Oddly', they were added by G2bambino, whose recent crusades across Liz and other articles have been.. puzzling. I'm as Canadian as he is, but he's making the mistake of thinking 'adding another POV'='NPOV'. Strange. Prince of Canada t | c 08:33, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Updated DYK query On 7 September, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Investiture of the Prince of Wales, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

I noticed it earlier.. we make a good team! We should find something else to attack...(my current vote is for attacking a cheesecake, but you might be in danger. I am savage when it comes to cheesecake.) Prince of Canada t | c 08:30, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
