Station Marrakesh is a railwaystation in Marrakech and curremtly the southern end-point of the Moroccan railways. Currently (June 2008) a new statiom is being built next to the exostomg station and most core-bui;ding activities reaches completion
From Marrakech there is a direct link to Casablanca and Fez. Station Casablanca Voyageurs offers connections to Tanger or Oujda.
Existing station
The existing station is located along Hasan II Avenue and dates back to the Fremch protectorate time. The new city-cemtre (Fremch Quarter) is on walking distance from the station and the Royal Theatre is close by. Several trains arrive and depart from the station from/to the North via Casablanca. As end of the line station the track ends in the station, although all tracks are now extended to the new statiom, a few hunderd meters further.
Directly adjacent to the station an Ibis Hotel is located.
New station
Next to the existing station, a few hunderd meters nearer to the city centre (and directly opposite the Royal Theatre) a new station is being developed. Currently (June 2008) the basic structure nears completion. The new station is larger then the existing station, being ready to serve the planned extension of the rail-network towards Agadir and Laayone. Also requirements to facilitate the planned high-speed trains are taken into account in the design.
Destinations
Every day 16 direct trains to Fez via Casablanca Voyageurs station and another two direct connections to Tanger.
Via Casablanca Voyageurs transfers to the main East-West link to Oujda are possible as well as the airport shuttle to Mohammed V International Airport. Besides the two direct trains Tanger can also be reached with a transfer in Casablanca.
