okto will telecast from 9 am to 12 midnight daily and offers 105 hours of programming each week. okto will retain the essence and strength of Kids and Arts Central’s programming. With the increased hours, the channel will broaden the scope of these 2 channels by including more engaging content for its viewers. okto will comeback like Premiere 12 which was ended in 2000.
Viewers can start tuning in to the channel on Friday, 19 October 2008.
The word "okto" means '8' in Greek. Reflecting this, the channel will be carried on Channel '8" on both StarHub CableTV and SingTel mio TV. Transmission hours will be from 9 am to 12 midnight daily.
Programming
okto will predominantly be an English channel with selected programmes in the language of the country of origin. The programming on the channel will be similar to current Kids and Arts Central, with preschool and children programs in the day and documentaries, lifestyle, anime and art performances in the evening.
With the migration of these programmes to okto, the number of hours for the above-mentioned genres will be increased to 105 hours each week. The increased hours will widen the scope of the channel and show more content like viewer submitted videos.
