Cypraea pantherina, commonly known as the Panther Cowry, is a species of cowry, a large sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Cypraeidae, the cowries. The panther cowry is found on the ocean floor in the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea. [1] Shells from Cypraea pantherina have been found tombs in the Rhine valley dated to 6 BCE. [2]
It is related to, and looks very similar to Cypraea tigris.
