In 1978 Giorgos Gounaropoulo's son donated 40 of his father's paintings to Municipality of Zografou. One year later the Gounaropoulos Museum was founded. The museum's building is at Gounaropoulo's house where he lived, worked and died. In 1990 the museum was expanded. A new building was established next to the first, which is used as an Art and Culture center.
