Hotep is a greeting from Classical African Civilization, Kamet (ancient Egypt). Hetep (Hotep) means peace but not just saying peace but sending the person you are talking to peace. Sometimes there is a physical component, a slight bow forward taping the back of the right hand to the palm of the left hand.

In the west we have words of description. Kametan writing that preceded Greek and Latin contained words of description and words of power. Words of power are designed to produce a particular vibration that can effect things in reality. This operates on the same principle of the old Memorex commercial where the lady sings a high note that is so clear it breaks the fine crystal glass. The tag line of the commercial was ---was it Memorex or was it live?

This modern example demonstrates the ancient concept that sound (vibration) does affect things in reality and that sounds a reproducible. Hotep is such a word designed to have a meaning and to effect things in nature.

The Hetep of Kamet and the Nirvana of India are similar concepts of peace. The Chanting of Ohmmm in meditation sets up peaceful vibrations. When a Kametan closed his eyes in meditation he/she was looking at Hetep.

Modern-day Blacks who practice the ancient traditions of the Kametans, often use the greeting Hotep. Sometimes the greeting hotep is combined with another word to form a greeting.

Hotep is also found in names such as Imhotep, Nuwaubian Hotep [1] and Ptah-hotep
