Jacques Deschamps (born 1697, Caux; died 1759, Dangu) was a French academic, theologian and priest of the 18th century.

Deschamps studied at the Sorbonne, receiving a doctorate of the university in 1728; he then served as parish priest of Dangu, in the diocese of Rouen, for 31 years until his death. In 1731, under the pseudonym Morel Deschamps, he was posted by his Archbishop on a secret mission to London on behalf of Louis XV.[1]

Dr Deschamps is the author of various theological treatises, including a celebrated translation of the Book of Isaiah from Hebrew into French.[2]
