Tolmeta[1][2][3][4] [5][6][7][8] or Tolmeita (Arabic طلميتة)[9] is a tiny village in the northern Cyrenaica region of eastern Libya, some 110 km (68 mi) east of Benghazi, near Ad Dirsiyah. Its name is derived, through Latin Ptolemais, from Πτολεμαΐς, the Greek name of the classical city of Ptolemais, whose ruins are nearby.

In some, often less scholarly, books it is called Tolmeitha in English.[10][11][12][13]
