Fabio Vittorini (born 19 December 1971) is an Italian literary critic, currently Professor of Comparative Literature at IULM University of Milan (Italy)[1] He is known for his studies on melodrama and on Italo Svevo. He has written many academic texts and essays.

Biography

In 1995 he graduated in Modern Literature at University of Bologna, discussing a thesis about Shakespeare's and Verdi's Macbeth. In 1999 he got a Ph.D. in Theory and Analysis of Literary Text at University of Bergamo discussing a thesis about Shakespeare and romantic opera, which later has been published imposing itself as point of reference in the critic literature on the subject.[2] Between 1996 and 2001 he gave seminars on Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at University of Bologna. Between 2001 and 2002 he was lecturer of Italian Contemporary Literature at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Since 2002 he is professor of Comparative Literature and Musical Languages for Audio-Visual Media at IULM University of Milan, where he also coordinates a Master in Television, cinema and new media.[3] Between 2003 and 2007 he collaborated with Milano per la Scala Foundation and with Austrian Forum of Milano giving lectures on operas scheduled at Teatro alla Scala.[4] In 2004 he published the filological edition of La coscienza di Zeno in Complete Works of Italo Svevo (Mondadori), which imposed itself as the basic edition for later Svevo's critics.[5] Since 2004 he writes for movie magazines "Duellanti" e "Nick". Since 2009 he reviews musical events for newspaper Il Manifesto. Since 2007 he is a member of the jury of Visual Arts Award San Fedele - Young Film-Makers, which takes place every year in Milano.[6] Since 2010 he is a member of the jury of Apertamente Award, which takes place every year in Palermo within Literary Festival Mondello Giovani.[7]
