Blessed Father Enrico Rebuschini[1][2][3] was a priest of the Order of Clerics Regular, Servants of the Sick (camillians). He was declared Blessed by Pope John Paul II.[4]

Early life & Education

He was born on 25 April 1860 in Gravedona, Como, Italy to Domenico and Sophia. He was second of the five children in a wealthy family. Since childhood he had the sense of charity and would give away whatever he could to the poor and needy. He felt the call to priesthood very early in his life but was opposed by his father. He joined his studies at the Pavia University but left it in a year because of anti-clerical environment. He joined the Military but left it and completed his diploma in accountancy. He worked at his brother-in-laws silk factory for two years but left it to join the seminary. He completed his studies in 1882. He was sent by Diocese to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome to pursue ecclesiastical studies in 1884. In March 1886 Enrico was overcome by Nervous Depression.But becoming gravely ill he had to return home[5][6]

He was sent to the Camillian hospital in Cremona.[7]From 1903 to 1937 he was administrator of the new St Camillus clinic and for 11 years, superior of his house.

Death

He died on May 10, 1938.[8]After celebrating Mass for a sick person he felt ill, and he died a few days later from pneumonia.

Beatification

He was declared 'Venerable' on 11 July 1995 and raised to the honor of the Blessed on May 4, 1997, at Saint Peter's Square, Vatican City by Pope John Paul II.[9][10][11][12]
