El Palmar de Troya is a village dependent on the near town of Utrera in Andalusia in south-western Spain with a population of 2,423. It is particularly known for the cathedral of the Palmarian Catholic Church, a schismatic Catholic sect founded by Clemente Domínguez y Gómez or known as Pope Gregory XVII in Palmarian Catholic faith since August 6, 1978 as a result of alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary on the site starting in the 1960s and later claimed as true Pope of whole Catholic faith instead of accepted then-elected Pope Karol Józef Wojtyła who now be named as John Paul II.
