The Advanced Course for Screenwriters and Film Directors (Russian: Высшие курсы сценаристов и режиссёров (ВКСР)) is independent from the state educational establishment in Russia offering graduate education, as well as post-graduate professional education in cinematography. Established in 1963 in the Soviet Union, but tracing its history back to 1956, the Advanced Course is the oldest school in Russia for people with higher education qualifications in the field providing professional education in major cinematographic occupations: film director, scriptwriter and producer.[1]
