John W. Lee is an American musician and singer/songwriter. Lee was born in Virginia, and was influenced by appalachian folk music. Lee studied music at Shenandoah Conservatory, in Winchester, VA as a private piano and Bass Guitar student during elementary, middle, and High School. Lee was the Drum Major and president of the John Handley High School Band. Lee studied under Golder Oneill, prior to being accepted into the College of Charleston School of the Arts as a performance bassist. At CofC, Lee studied under Frank Duvall during his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to the classical department where he auditioned into the CofC symphony orchestra as a double bassist. Lee graduated from the College of Charleston in 2005 with a minor in music performance and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology. In 2009 Lee returned to Charleston as a Singer/Songwriter calling his music American Modern Folk Music. Lee produced a studio album called "First Kiss" which was independent released on CD. Lee sold over 500 copies of First Kiss while traveling the southeast, including living at Awendaw Green, touring with Evolucid cross country, and a performance with David Wegman in Saint John USVI. Lee also toured with Danielle Howle as a bassist, and occasionally performed his original songs on stage with the folk icon.

In 2013 Lee released the single "Falling in Love" on streaming services. In 2018 Lee released three songs from the unreleased EP, done with Trevor Creany in VA, entitled "dirty politics". The singles released were "America" featuring Lee's cousin Chris Sprinkle on Harmonica, "Back Dirt Road" (the hmm song) and "Love is the answer".

In 2020 Lee released the single "One Day" produced and played on by Acclaimed Guitarist, and Lee's high school friend, David Linaburg.

Lee currently lives in Kodiak, AK and continues to work as a Singer/songwriter.

John W. Lee was a British athlete. He competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. He was affiliated with Heaton Harriers, a Newcastle-Upon-Tyne-based club.[1]

In the 800 metres, Lee finished second in his semifinal heat and did not advance to the final. His time was 2:01.7, only .3 seconds behind John Halstead's winning time.

Lee's time in the 1500 metres semifinals was 4:12.4, putting him in fourth place in the heat and eliminating him from the final.
