Neil Blackmore is an English novelist who had a success in Germany and other countries in the 1990s and 2000s with his first two novels, "Soho Blues" and "Der Himmel über Damaskus". These books were published to great success and critical strenght and Neil Blackmore toured all over the country. The books were also published in England (called "Soho Blues" and "Split My Heart" there), where he is today. But in England the books were not such a big success because of problems with his publishing house, Orion Books. But Neil Blackmore was one of the first writers to have a writing blog, starting in the late 1990s. Bright Red, his website centered around his blog (not then called so), was one of the best known writing sites of the time, known for it's funny-honest type. In 2000 The Independent Newspaper named it one of best websites on writing but Neil Blackmore stopped it a year later and seemed to disappear.

2006, a German fan group contacted Mr Blackmore and he told that he had stopped writing for some years and had been travelling the world for some time and living in London as a freelance in his profession too. He told his fans that he was writing again and hoped to finish his new novel in 2007 maybe. He also said that he no longer wanted to stop writing, having first said he would.
