Eelam War IV
Appearance
Eelam War IV is the name given to the fourth phase of armed conflict between Sri Lankan military and the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The hostilities broke out on the 26th of July 2006 when Sri Lanka Air force fighter jets bombed several LTTE camps around Mawilaru Anicut because of LTTE cut-off the water supply for the paddy fields in the area. The fighting resumed after 2 years of cease fire between the GoSL and LTTE and continuous of fighting lead the Sri Lankan army to gain more area from LTTE in the first two months of the year 2007. This phase of war enhance the LTTE's capability of air strikes when their air crafts bombed Sri Lankan Air Force base on 26th of March 2007 Katunayake near Colombo.
