How do you get vandal proof? Politics rule

VandalProof

Could ther be a possibility to link the "New User" function on VandalProof directly to their talk page to allow us (VandalProof users) to be able to use our own/other welcome templates, rather than the one currently in use which actually points a user to his/her contributions regardless is they have any....

VandalProof

When I tried to verify my name, it says "The user list is corrupt, please contact a moderator to have it repaired. I am approved, too. Userpie 15:17, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof Application Denial

Could you please give me a more exact reason for denying my application? The application page itself states that "In most circumstances, [...] users with fewer than 250 mainspace edits [...] will generally not be accepted." I do realize the concise meaning of that; however, it lets on to the possibility that one could be accepted without 250 mainspace edits. While I'm attempting to contest your decision (as you are the final arbiter of this, seeing how you created it), I would like to emphasize to you that all of my edits and participation in Wikipedia have been benign and that I'm attempting to slowly "work myself up" the ranks to become more helpful in the community. Obviously, if denied most tools that aid me (from what I've seen, all Windows anti-vandal tools are authorization-only), I'll never be able to do so. If you still believe my denial is warranted, could you at least point me in the direction of some ways to fight more vandalism besides what I'm doing now (happening upon random pages and seeing if something can be corrected)? Additionally, I advise (although in no way am I trying to be offensive) that you change your VP application page to more accurately reflect your acceptance process, as per the reason you left me on my talk page (that 250 mainspace edits is strictly required). --LoganK 20:46, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Use WP:LAVT, WP:TWINKLE, WP:IRC, and WP:RC. ffm talk 20:53, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I'd like to point out that you can vandal fight just fine without any tools; for example, I've never used any (I'm approved for VP, but as a Mac user, I can't actually use it). A shiny program just makes it easier to screw up; having a solid knowledge of the policies themselves is much better than an automated tool. EVula // talk // // 21:00, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VP

Why did you erase my VP status? I was using it correctly. Respond on my talk plz. Wikiman53 t a 01:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC) Recopied from Daniel's talk page.'[reply]

a) I removed you, after discussion with at least two other moderators, after a (confidential) complaint was made. Upon review of your recent edits, particularily those to your talk page using {{helpme}}, it was resolved that you have shown a distinct lack of knowledge, and the moderator group has decided to remove your access as a protection measure (like how we decline new nominations for very similar situations).
b) I, as noted in my header, post my messages here, and here only - "Please note that if I respond to your message, it will always be placed here; it may be duplicated on your talk page depending on the urgency and importance". I do not consider your message to be of paramount importance or urgency. Daniel 06:21, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if you really want to know...

  • Firstly, the block, which was totally appropriate. This would have been enough to remove access anyways, but then your immaturity and lack of knowledge became apparent.
  • User talk:WikiMan53, 21:02, May 13, 2007 (UTC) — asking what the personal attack templates are casts great shadows over whether you know how to use the test templates correctly, a pivotal function of VP.
  • YMMV, 21:15, May 13, 2007 (UTC) — again...
  • User talk:WikiMan53, 15:19, May 19, 2007 (UTC) — asking how to, of all things, edit an RfA, more lack of inexperience and knowledge.
  • Stéphane Rousseau, 20:38, May 19, 2007 (UTC) — most certainly not a candidate, shows a distinct lack of knowledge about Wikipedia.
  • User talk:WikiMan53, 23:51, May 20, 2007 (UTC) — asking how to use CSD templates, continues the distinct pattern of inexperience with Wikipedia.

You demonstrated, between the block and the above (the list is, by the way, not comprehensive - it's only a small selection), that you a) are inexperienced with Wikipedia; b) have poor decision-making; and c) are erratic. Put together, and after consulting with a number of moderators (including the one who originally approved you), and conferring to the confidential complaint about you, I decided that, to protect the project and the reputation of VandalProof, I should remove your access to the powerful tool. This is done using the authority given to me by Daniel Cannon, owner and operator of the application, and with the support of a number of moderators. Daniel 07:13, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I knew what personal attack templates were. I was wondering the CODES!
*I know how to edit a rfa I was wondering if you could WITHOUT a comment.
I know for example {{db-bio}} but didnt know how to say csd7 as an example. I also believe you should have TOLD ME that you did this. Personally, I think it was very rude of you guys. Also all my VP edita are relievent. But if you don't want me to, I won't help revert vandals faster. Wikiman53 t a 22:05, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ha!. Looks like I got this one right :) Daniel 06:30, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GeSHi update

You seem like an admin interested in GeSHi. You might like to bookmark User:Quuxplusone/monobook.css for future copying (in whole or in part) into MediaWiki:Geshi.css. I'm updating my monobook.css irregularly, but for some languages, like C, Python, and C++, someone's going to have to redo the corresponding PHP files. I'll try to attract someone's attention if I get around to doing one. --Quuxplusone 08:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
