"Three On a Couch"

"Three On a Couch" is the sixty-second episode of The Golden Girls. It originally aired on December 5, 1987.

Plot

Constant bickering prompts the girls to seek counselling. After meeting the counsellor, Dr. Ashley, they recount instances where they are really annoyed with each other.

Dorothy complains about Blanche's selfishness, leading to a flashback where Blanche wants Dorothy to double-date with her, even when she is sick with the flu. Sophia then tells a story about Rose's stupidity, leading to another flashback to the time when Rose accidentally placed Dorothy's employment ad in the Personals column. Blanche and Rose then complain about Dorothy's unwillingness to let them be less than perfect, leading to another flashback where Rose and Blanche are scared and because she was studying, Dorothy would be of no comfort. Sophia then complains about not getting enough credit for being "the glue that keeps these women together", leading once again to another flashback where Sophia uses one of her "Sicily 19xx" stories to help the girls solve a problem.

Dr. Ashley, after hearing of their problems, comes to a conclusion: they are incompatible and should save their money for the moving expenses. That night, when the girls decide to part their separate ways, Sophia comes to the rescue with one of her stories. With that good advice, the girls break into the cheesecake.
