Re: J&P

This company looks notable to me. You might want to copy and paste your arguments into the talk page, lest anyone wish to delete it again. And any additional information that would support the company's notability would be great. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! --Fang Aili talk 13:13, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i was just trying to add some info on this article and found you deleted it yesterday. I can't see the basis of this, could you please explain? Regards, StephP 17:43, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because we don't need an article about every minor little sports club, only the notable ones. Someone tagged this article with {{prod}}, which brought it to my attention. 5 days after it was tagged, I deleted it. - UtherSRG (talk) 17:49, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish it undeleted, tag it with {{delrev}}, and post a note about it on Wikipedia:Deletion review. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delight

I generally do many upkeep tasks in many articles so I tend not to have too much time to analyze the whole issues, I take a look and try to fix it. That's why I had done a simple revert in the first place, then when you pointed out that "traces" could be an understatement, I tried to improve it. Sorry if it might not have seemed correct to do such a revert considering the wider issue.. However, I agree with you, so I tried to improve it a little bit. Cheers! A special thanks

I applaud you in the creation of the article Mahairas monastery. I have some material on the monastery from a book that I hope to add and cite. Peace. (UNFanatic 21:51, 7 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Additions to American Psycho

Thank you for the additions to American Psycho. I realised not long ago the article would need such a section if it were to be comprehensive. The GA article police, however, will not promote it until the Themes and Symbolism section is properly referenced.

Anyway, Merry Christmas! Rintrah 05:18, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message KRBN, but I have long decided to avoid getting embroiled in political issues. They inevitably lead to a waste of everyone’s time and in all honesty it simply is not my field. Cheers, StephP 12:26, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

London Metropolitan University

Hello. I noticed you have reverted an edit made to this page today. Can you please let me know why you reverted it as you do not give a reason. Thank you 84.66.215.213 17:56, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted it for the same reason as user:Mholland. The abbreviation LMU is often used, see examples here[4] and here [5] and here [6] and here [7]. How about yourself, why have you got a problem with its inclusion? StephP 18:14, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because I like to be accurate and the sources you cite are not really authoritative, but fair enough... 84.66.215.213 19:22, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pfff...well, London Metropolitan University students seem to use it themselves: [8]. Anyway, in all honesty, I am not that fussed, so leave it as you wish. StephP 19:36, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, a few points:

  • Remember WP:CIVIL when talking to other WP users and leaving edit summaries. Think about how you raised your issue on my talk page then ask yourself how it could have been better worded to be both more polite and sensible.
  • NPWatcher is not a bot, it is a program for users to monitor the new pages feed and immediately action them with relevant tags such as CSD, AfD, stub, wikify, etc.
  • If you look at the [in question when it was first created], you will see that it was more than acceptable to tag it for a speedy deletion under criteria A7, as it did not assert notability or significance of the topic in question, nor was it stubbed to indicate it was a work in progress. Further, CSD's do not require explanation on the talk page for the article

Like other WP editors I don't mind people raising questions and being bold, but what I do mind is when they go about it in a manner which puts others offside and shows an apparant lack of respect for WP as an information sharing tool. Please sit back and have a long hard think about your actions, and I would hope you would see sense as to apologise for your actions shortly. thewinchester 03:26, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At the risk of repeating myself, please go away and have a long hard read of WP:CIVIL as well as re-reading everything I said above. Your comments in my talk page indicate to any reasonably educated person that you have decided to ignore reason and sound advice and pursue your own argumentative viewpoint on the matter. From my extended experience and those of a large group of WP editors I work with including a group of fifteen consisting of 10,000+ plus editors, WP admins, or those who actively participate in AfD, AMA members, etc, it is those who act in the manner you currently are who cause disputes and issues. Can I strongly suggest that you stop, step back, and re-evaluate everything you have said thus far before even thinking about saying anything further. I'm happy to hear any constructive or considered viewpoints you may have on the issue, but to simply find multiple different ways of saying you're unhappy that a newly submitted article from yourself was reasonably nominated for a CSD A7 is both pointless and is of no benefit to the furthering of WP. thewinchester 15:13, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree that anyone who has played international football for any country, no matter how minor in football terms, should be considered notable. Every player who has ever played for Andorra, San Marino, Faroe Islands, Luxembourg is notable enough for a WP entry? I can't agree with that. Jules 15:20, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay mate, I don't want this to descend into an argument about a tiny, insignificent article. Let me explain this to you... Is it not illegal for companies to say that they're are the best or the biggest but this is an encyclopedia! You can't say things like that. I did in fact look up that link that you said was "fact"... to be absolutely honest, on that wiki page there is no citation saying that it's a "fact". It's also the owner of that hospital which makes it biased. You need an independent source to varify it as fact. In this instance you are incorrect. That hospital may or may not be the biggest... in order for you to be right you would need to get a source which says it is the biggest. We can get an admin involved if you wish? Because, to be absolutely honest, I know I'm correct. Both articles make unsourced claims e.g. "the largest private operator of health care facilities..." etc. No citation at all. Even on the page that you say proves it as a fact; no citation! I recommend that you re-word both of them or at least add a [citation needed] tag. Anyway, want to get an admin involved in this petty dispute? :-) Scarian 16:17, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please see reply on your talk page...StephP 18:03, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Steph, I want to apologise for this disagreement. I know it was only a trivial thing but I want to apologise for losing my temper. I don't want to bring it up again because you've now sourced the information and it's over and done with... but I was going by "Any material... for which no source is provided may be removed by any editor". I just wanted to make that clear so I don't look like that much of a fool. I'm sorry this disagreement has arisen and, even though it was within my right to remove the said information, I realise that I should have put [citation needed] instead. I have been adding in the 'fact tag' to other articles that need sources rather than deleting them, ergo I have learnt something from this 'falling out', of sorts. Once again, I apologise sincerely and I hope that I did not cause you any grievances. Take care, Pat.

GSSE

I've been meaning to drop you a note about GSSE stuff as well, not anything specifically, just in general. I think if we can get an infobox that would be good; it could help stave off troubles like we've recently had with the merger notice. I'm not great with templates, I've just usually modified code to create the main GSSE one and others, but I think we should be able to edit the Olympic infobox a little and make it work. I've got a bit more information now to include in the main article, which will be helpful, and I may have enough to put together a GSSE Records page as well. matt91486 21:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are anthems for at least a few, and there might well be for all (though I can't guarantee us finding the information for them). We can always insert the category when we know it and leave it out when we don't. I'll see what I can do about duplicating the template though. matt91486 02:58, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:J&P.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:J&P.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 04:20, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tramp nightclub

Hello. Someone has put an article that you authored, Tramp nightclub, up for AfD[10]. I have had a stab at defending it, however the main problem seems to be the lack of verifiability, particularly for the celebrities named, and it would be good if you were able to remember from where you sourced the article. Was the book, 'Tramp's Gold', the source? --Malcolmxl5 05:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Edek.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Edek.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:27, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:A.E.Pafou.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:43, 6 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner.
