North Royalton High School, celebrating its 100th Anniversary (1907-2007), is a public high school located in North Royalton, Ohio, a suburban community in the Greater Cleveland area with a population of 28,648. Approximately 1660 students attend North Royalton High School. It is a member of the North East Ohio Athletic Conference, the Lake Division. The school colors are royal purple and gold. The school mascot is the bear. The school's fight song is Ohio State's "Fight the Team Across the Field."

Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championships

The 1979 North Royalton Bears state champion soccer team is the 1st boys soccer team in the history of Ohio to finish the season undefeated at 21-0-0. [1]


North Royalton High School Marching Band

  • Under the direction of band director Marty Lydecker, the North Royalton High School Band has appeared in the OMEA state marching band finals, earning Superior Ratings since 1989. Assisted by Chris Burdick, and NRHS alumni Dave Vitale, the band has made many appearances, including The 2003 Rose Bowl Parade, and the 2006 Indy 500 Parade and Festival.
  • The band has approximately 270 members.
  • Most recently has been invited to represent America (one of two bands) in the 2008 Olympic parade in Beijing. The invitation was refused due to lack of necessary funds.
  • The band has accepted to play in New Orleans the week of the New Year.
  • has received straight superior ratings at states for 17 consecutive years.

North Royalton Choirs

North Royalton has had at least one choir since it's founding. Throughout the years there has been Concert Choir, Men's Chorus, and Women's Chorus. In the 80's, North Royalton expanded to include Royal Harmony, a show choir. The founding of this group was due in large part to Kim Brickman's enthusiasm.

There are currently three choirs: "Royal Harmony", Freshman Choir, and Concert Choir


North Royalton High School Theatre

North Royalton High School's Performing Arts Center (The Dan Calabrese Center for the Performing Arts) was built in the mid-1980s and has hosted a number of shows and events since. Most recently, it has played host to the musicals Annie, The Pajama Game, The Music Man, and Grease. It has also been the home of the North Royalton High School Spotlighters productions of Look Homeward, Angel, You Can't Take It With You, The Crucible, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. In November of 2007, The Glass Menagerie will be showing. It has also been the home of many events such as the Royalton Rock-Off, which was a benefit concert showcasing a number of student-formed rock bands.
