Bomet

Bomet is a city in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is the capital of Bomet District. Bomet has an urban population of 4426 and a total population of 42,024 (1999 census [1]). It is located along the B3 road between Nairobi and Kisii via Narok.

Bomet municipality has six wards (Cheboin, Emkwen, Itembe, Mutarakwa, Township and Tuluapmosonik). These wards are split between Bomet, Chepalungu and Sotik constituencies [2].

0°47′S 35°21′E / 0.783°S 35.350°E / -0.783; 35.350 TEGAT this loocation is in Longisa division and is one of the most productive of places under that division.

Agriculture, trade and transport are the main Economical activities in the area. Tea, maize,soya beans and garlic are grown. In addition, people practise animal farming, especially dairy farming.

However, there are a number of problems facing the development of Tegat. chief among them are poor road network,lack of farmer support, poverty and a high rate of school drop- out as a result.

The current schools in the area are st.catherine sec. school,Kipyosit sec. school, Kipkurion Primary schhol. Mogitui primary school,Sonoiya primary school, among others. Of late, Tegat location has experienced a high rate of school enrolment, under the Narck administration after the intoduction of free primary Education.
