Coptic Hospital

The Coptic Hospital is a name given to many hospitals , two in Egypt in Cairo and Alexandria and other churces one of them is in Nairobi , Kenya[1]

Origin

The idea of establishing a hospital by the Coptic Orthodox Church started n the late nineteenth century and the first Coptic hospital was opened in Azbakeya in the 1920s, this hospital was famous for the work of Naguib Pasha Mahfouz in it.

Cairo Coptic Hospital was nationalised in the 1960s and it is currently run by a government body , however the Coptic Church continued to give the name to its hospitals outside Egypt.
