Welcome

Welcome to my discussion page. I would be glad to open or continue a discussion with you. Just start a new heading. I will not repeat here what I may have said on your discussion page in response. For various reasons I will delete your responses after they seem no longer relevant.

Thank you and happy editing. Dave 02:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Updated DYK query On July 25, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Prunus mahaleb, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar
Amidst the tremendous amount of drivel and fluff afflicting Celtic and Gaulish studies like a cancer – particularly on the internet – I was charmed and delighted to read Wikipedia's article on the Vangiones, to which you have contributed so much. Your clear presentation and solid, meticulous approach to the sources does great honour to Wikipedia. Bravo! Q·L·1968 14:48, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Barnstar of WPGreece

For your contributions to WP:GREECE and particularly to the Battle of Thermopylae, I award you this barnstar. Keep up the good work Odysses () 14:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Attic Greek

Dear Botteville, I have noticed that some time ago you have made some extensive constibutions to the article on Attic Greek. I have just gone over the article to correct some linguistic, stylistic and factual mistakes or obscurities, that have accumulated over time. There is one such obscurity, however, that I have left untouched for now, which I have traced back to an edit of yours, and which I hope you may throw some light upon. My problem concerns the sentence: "The case of thalatta/thalassa, "sea", is not so clear, as it is believed to have been a loan; however, there a supposed Macedonian dalmangchan." What is it you wanted to say here (specifically in the last part which I have italicized)? Best wishes, --Fabullus (talk) 13:24, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dave, I have deleted the sentence as you suggested. Are you interested in modern Greek dialects as well? A couple of days ago a most curious article appeared, the original author of which has since disappeared. The (badly written) article is about the Turkish village of Akköse and it originally (see here) contained a glossary (now deleted) of local words which appear Greek to me. If it interests you, have a look, if not, don't. Best wishes, --Fabullus (talk) 14:32, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hello Dave

i noticed the text you writed do the user Megistias

"Well, I stand on my work and you must stand on yours. Articles on Wikipedia melt away like the sands and that is one disadvantage. It would be nice to have a nice article on Pelasgians but it may not be possible. I'll contribute what I can and then the article must fend for itself. I hope I have started a train of thought for you that eventually will make it unnecessary to fear getting kicked off Wikipedia. The mean, the golden mean. As a Greek you should understand that. I'll be in the background. Dave (talk) 05:10, 23 January 2008 (UTC)"

I think had the same problem with the user Megistias, usually when i try to conversate he just say he is right and i am wrong, deleting my text on the article and sayng me "read the appropriate subjects above" that means nothing to me, but i think you must not leavt this fact alone, i think the only change is to begin a "Dispute resolution" with Megistias because he is not neutral and he is not competent in the article, what do you think about? what do you think about my post called "Third opinion request" in my talk page?
