"D.P.O." is the third episode of the third season of television series The X-Files. Mulder is skeptical over a coroner's report regarding the fifth person to be struck by lightning in a small Oklahoma town. Their investigation into the latest death seems to point to the only person to have survived a lightning strike, an emotionally–charged youth named Darin Peter Oswald.
Trivia
- The first credit, "Executive Producer - Chris Carter" is actually displayed on the television that Darin is watching, as if he'd just changed the channel to the end of an X-Files episode.
- "Hey Man, Nice Shot" by Filter is featured prominently in this episode.
- The song that Darin puts onto the jukebox at the beginning, which plays as the first victim dies, is "Ring the Bells (live alt. version)" by James.
- The game that is being played at the arcade in the opening scene is Virtual Fighter 2. Also, in the background a part of the soundtrack (specifically Green Hill Zone) from the original Sonic the Hedgehog game can be heard. While essentially a non-arcade game, it was one of the games to be ported for Sega's Mega Drive-based arcade hardware.
- The song that is played at the end of the episode as Darin is changing the television channels is 'Live Fast, Diarrhea' by the Vandals.
