Location of Mata Verde within Minas Gerais

Mata Verde is a Brazilian municipality located in the state of Minas Gerais. As of 2007 the population was 7,458 and the area was 230.

The city belongs to the mesoregion of Jequitinhonha and to the microregion of Almenara. The elevation is 865. It became a municipality in 1993. It is located on the boundary with the state of Bahia and is connected by dirt road to Divisópolis. To the north there are road connections with Encruzilhada in Bahia. Neighboring municipalities are: Bahia, Divisópolis and Bandeira.
