Neutrality nomination

I just recently came across the 101st Chemical Company page and saw that you tagged it for a possible neutrality violation. I whole-heartedly agree withe the POV issue. Please refer to the talk page for more info. Thanks. (!Mi luchador nombre es amoladora de la carne y traigo el dolor! 03:30, 10 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Just a minor note on something I noticed: the extremely broad core topics (e.g. Military) really shouldn't be tagged with every possible task force, as most of those are quite irrelevant to the actual content of the article. It's generally better, in such cases, to have no task forces listed than to have all of them. ;-)

Thanks! Kirill Lokshin 05:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but my point was that the true core topics couldn't really be considered "in the scope" of, say, a national task force, because one wouldn't expect any meaningful connection between the content of the article and the task force's scope. The question I tend to ask in such cases might be "Is a potential editor of the article likely to need/want/get any significant assistance with it via that particular task force" (more so than simply through the central project, anyways). Thus, for example, there's no real reason why an editor of Military would want to consult with, say, the Canadian military history task force—the connection is just too limited.
(At a certain point, of course, the overuse of task force tags just looks bad—we don't want to give the impression that we're spamming, after all.)
Now that we have the "Military science" and "Military technology and engineering" task forces, things should be a bit easier, incidentally. "Military science", in particular, is probably the one that a lot of central topics should be tagged into. Kirill Lokshin 22:08, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Latin America (under some name) is one that's been the subject of considerable discussion, but we haven't been able to settle on whether we want "Latin America", "South America", "South and Central America", or some other variation as the scope (it having turned out that there are national sensibilities at stake). I'm hoping that we'll be able to come to some decision on the issue in the near future, though, as it's a pretty major gap in our coverage. Kirill Lokshin 22:18, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Hey my buddy, how have you been? I would like you to take a look at the image of Rear Admrial Rafael Celetino Bemitez Image:Rear Admiral R.C. Benitez.jpg. Now, notice his Silver Star ribbon below his "Sub Wings". If I'm not mistaken, he was awarded more then one Silver Star Medal. What do you think? Tony the Marine 05:25, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MyRevolutionaryWar.com

Were you referring to the massive linkspam I helped removed earlier this week to www.myrevolutionarywar.com? I was told by an admin, Eagle 101, to remove it. I don't recall his exact wording, but I have logs at home, I believe. We caught it, as we're testing a new bot to catch linkspam through RC patrol. If you'd like, you can check it out on irc.freenode.net #wikipedia-spam and #wikipedia-spam-t. Note that the bot does not actually do any reversion itself, but rather notifies us of any linkspam or red-/black-listed sites added to en.wiki and notifies flesh-and-blood editors of possible abuse.

I'd don't recall his exact reasoning for saying to remove it, but I'll check when I get home after my Environmental Management course tomorrow. I don't have a fast enough connection here to look through all my reverts for it, but I'll check when I get home tomorrow (Marketing class until 9:00pm tonight, work at 6:00am tomorrow morning, PST of course). If I inadvertantly removed any other links, I appologize. Please feel free to readd them, as they would have been inadvertantly removed. Thanks for contacting me instead of just simply re-adding them... it's greatly appreciated. :) thadius856talk 00:37, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said before, I don't recall the admin's reasoning — you'd be better off contacting him about that aspect of it. However, I do recall that the link was added to roughly 25 pages in very fast succession, all identical, indicating copy & paste action.
I personally don't have any feelings either way about the site, so I won't be adding my two cents into the discussion. Hopefully everybody comes to an easily agreeable solution without too much infighting, as I'd hate to see WPMILHIST itself suffer because of the link removal. If you need to ask me anything else, feel free to contact me again on my talk page again. thadius856talk 19:45, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering

How are you and what you've up to lately? Take care Buddy. Tony the Marine 23:50, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Glad to hear from you. I need your opinion. Even thogh I stated in the article that I wrote that Admiral Benitez was the recipient of two Silver Star Medals, I would like you to take a look at the image of Rear Admrial Rafael Celetino Bemitez Image:Rear Admiral R.C. Benitez.jpg. Now, notice his Silver Star ribbon below his "Sub Wings" (You can zoom it). I just want to make sure that my eyes aren't playing tricks on me. Tell me what you think? Reguesting your opinion

Someone wants to rename the Categories of the Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star Medals, to something like this: "Category:Recipients of the United States Purple Heart medal".

I personally oppose this move because these military decorations are only awarded om the United States and therefore cannot be confused with some other country's decoration. I see no need for the move. As a person who has been involved with United States military related articles, I invite you to express your opinion here: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Speedy. Thank you, Tony the Marine 02:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HMS A1

I know it's been a year and a half, but I finally completed your request for illustrations for HMS A1, with not one - but two images I found in a 1904 edition of the "Review of Reviewers for Australasia". Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 07:32, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
