Abdul Aziz (1941-1959) was a Pakistani cricketer, a wicket keeper and opening batsman, killed by a blow to the heart whilst batting in the 1958 - 59 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy against Pakistan Combined Services. He was hit in the chest by a fast ball and died on his way to hospital, tragically at the age of just seventeen. A popular but erroneous cricketing myth[1] claims that his performance was recorded on the scorecard as:

1st Innings: Abdul Aziz, retired hurt, 0
2nd Innings: Abdul Aziz, did not bat, dead, 0

Although this would have been a first in cricketing history, it is untrue; the official scorecard simply marks him as 'absent'.[2]
