Hey - I notice you deleted a test page in the userspace, replacing it with the userspace template here. Apparently, the user disagreed with your assessment, and re-posted the text here. I saw the page when I deleted the improperly-licenced band photo; apparently, the article he's copying was deleted earlier. Just an Fyi; not sure how you'd like to proceed, or if they are trying to improve the article or just re-post it. Thoughts? UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - I'll watchlist it and follow suit. Thanks, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 14:15, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Strike all of my messages on your talk page and see three lines on User:Carl's page == Wasilla Assembly of God, Ed Kalnins, Wasilla Bible Church and Larry Kroon ==

Thanks. If you have time, your assistance would be appreciated. I am new and these were my first article attempts. Please See my Five Requests for Clarification on Wikipedia Policies and Standards summarized from numerous Palin related Wikipedia deletion discussion pages, posted on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wasilla Assembly of God, where it may be more appropriate to respond, as the five questions were culled from numerous other editors and others on the four deleted articles, Wasilla Assembly of God, Ed Kalnins, Wasilla Bible Church and Larry Kroon.EricDiesel (talk) 16:42, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I hadn't finished my article on Luke Pickett. I'd actually on just started. What gives you the right to delete my article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lwotton (talkcontribs) 18:40, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me? Luke Pickett has had recognition as a singer for years, he's been listening to over 350,000 times on Last.fm and Myspace, toured both the UK and internationally. And I believed it was time for him to have a Wikipedia entry. You've now protected my article so I cannot continue on it. You're clearly very wrong about him being "notable". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lwotton (talkcontribs) 18:47, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You claim these as "trivial" sources? Being as one is from the BBC. Recording his earlier work. Myspace is sourced for bands throughout Wikipedia, I note Katy Perry, City and Colour and Alexisonfire. And Myspace Records is now a major record label, so I'm not sure how you note it as "trivial" when clearly his Myspace page is far from "trivial". Have a look, if you like.

== Please Stop Misstating my POV re Wasilla Assembly of God and Sarah Palin, and calling me "unethical" ==

I have REPEATEDLY been falsely accused of having a point of vew that I do not have.

  • My POV regarding Obama, which is well based on facts is -
  • Obama is the least qualified Democrat ever to run in my lifetime.
  • Barak Obama is not scientifically literate. He is a lawyer.
  • Obama has a Senate record is so brief that I have NO IDEA how he would act in office.
  • All Obama has ever done nationally is run for office, which is not a qualification for running for office.
  • Contrary to news reports, Obama DOES have extensive “experience”… as a Lawyer! Since lawyers are despised by the public for twisting words and facts to mislead people, he twisted words and facts to mislead people, by using the words “community organizer” instead of “Lawyer” to mislead people as to what his fundamental experience was.
  • My POV regarding Palin and Wasilla Assembly of God is -
  • 1 Palin left WAoG in 2002. This should be in an article on Palin.
  • 2 Kerry was nominated 2004. This should be in an article on Kerry.
  • 3 Bush handled Katrina in 2005. This should be in an article on Bush.
  • 4 WaoG made sermons about Kerry voters and Bush detractors. The content of the sermons was internationally reported by in major media sources. The content should be in an article on WaoG.
  • 5 A historian of current events should be able to find these facts in an encyclopedia in the sections indicated.
  • 6 From these facts, a historian could read the relevant articles and content and conclude that Palin was NOT in the church when the sermons were given.
  • This is the opposite of the POV I am falsely accused of pushing, with "arguments" like calling me "unethical", “trash” and “garbage”, which is no more than name calling.
  • 1. Please specify how I am pushing my POV in the contribution.
  • 2. Which of 1 through 5 above do you disagre with? Calling me "unethical" like you did on my page is not a response.
  • 3. Please stop publically misstating my POV and correct your misstatement of it. Thank You. EricDiesel (talk) 11:20, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

== Coathanger ==

You said you agree wholeheartedly with Gberry. I put a sentence on the Wasilla Assembly of God article that “In 2008, the church promoted a conference to pray to convert gays into heterosexuals.” And cited an AP story. It was deleted “coatrack”. I was threatened not to post again or I would be blocked from posting. Why is this a coatrack? I do not understand the concept. I can not get anyone to respond, and this has gong on for days. EricDiesel (talk) 14:42, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

== Coatrack ==

Thanks for responding to my coatrack question. I am a firm believer that everyone wins when all information is available somewhere. I still don’t get the coatrack concept. For example, I put the sentence on the Wasilla Assembly of God article that “In 2008, the church promoted a conference to pray to convert gays into heterosexuals.” I cited an AP story as the source. It certainly does not belong on the Sarah Palin article because Palin left the church years ago. So where should it go? It is still another internationally published story about the church's strange views. Why is this a coatrack? What article shuold it go on, being still another international news story about the church's views causing it to be international notability in current affairs history. This was my first article for WIikipedia, so excuse me if the question is stupid, but I read the coatrack article several times. EricDiesel (talk) 17:00, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please restore Kenneth W. Hunzeker? I did not see the deleted version of the article, but as Commanding General of V Corps (United States), he is probably notable. See http://www.vcorps.army.mil/leaders/Biography-HunzekerKennethW_2007-10.pdf I was reluctant to start a new article from scratch in case the deleted version included information worth salvaging. A photo is on the Commons at Image:HunzekerKennethW-ACU 2007-08.JPG -Eastmain (talk) 17:05, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's back, and I've prodded it. When I went to the author's talk page to let him know I realised you had been involved. Still doesn't look notable or well-referenced to me, but please wield the appropriate fish if you've already vetted this. --AndrewHowse (talk) 20:59, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I rather assumed we'd get to AfD eventually. He hasn't cited multiple non-trivial refs, and when I googled I got an interesting but uncomplimentary piece in an NYT blog about a major investor being an alleged stock manipulator. --AndrewHowse (talk) 21:17, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've added another link to an external source, a PC Magazine article showing alternatives to Google for various types of vertical search. PC Magazine is pretty much in the top tier in terms of reliable external references. I'm really not quite sure how much more notable something has to be to rate. In terms of the NYT article, I've heard about the guy, though I'm not sure it's really relevant to the company. If someone wanted to write up a Controversial History section and it was factually accurate I wouldn't fight about it though.

In the meantime, there's Blog search companies like Technorati, Bloglines and such, which are similar in their alternative nature and important in that they expose an entire vertical category of content that the top 5 search engines do not; or didn't at the time those products began. This is what makes Twing notable. It's approach to a new information space and depth of content in the area. Else why else would SeeqPod, Pixsta, Mahalo, which isn't even first in category and still in beta, all be notable?

The point? I'll happily tag all these and more for AfD if they don't measure up. But as I've said, I think I've met or exceeded notability guidelines a) as they're written and b) in comparison to like articles. Scottwrites (talk) 15:19, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re Prod - Fair enough; thanks for letting me know. --AndrewHowse (talk) 20:07, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ID viewpoint

  • 1. Do you think we should have this conversation all in one place, on my page your yours? Is there a good Wikipedia etiquete for this?
  • 2. Sorry, I am too new to know the abbreviations. I can't respond to you since I need to ask you, what does "ID viewpoint" mean? I will respond more meaningfully when I can actually read what you wrote. So if this message is nonresponsive, it is because I want to actually understand your point. So what is "ID viewpoint"?
  • 3. I don't really care if this article exists or not, after all, its just an article. but I am learning about how to build a consensus so I can contribute to Wikipedia better, and the best way is on a subject where people are watching and commenting quickly. So my personal concern is to learn how to come to a consensus. I am also learning how to be neutral. My recent edits are completely different from my originals.
  • 4. I wrote the article because I was curious about things I was hearing in the news. For example, I was curious about the "criticise bush - go to hell" thing, since it seemed odd that a woman of the intelligence level of Palin would sit and liten to that kind of thing. I went to Wikipedia and could not find the information, or even an article on the church, which was on the cable talk shows nonstop. So I made an article. When I researched things said about the church, I discovered that the quote was not correct on the news, as it was about Hurrican Katrina, so it had to have been made in 2005 or later. I also found that Palin left the church in 2002, three years BEFORE Katrina, so palin was being unfairly smeared on TV. That's what an encyclopedia is all about, lots of facts abuot things to check on what you want to know about. So what is driving all of my arguments is "what information would I want and expect an encyclopedia like Wikipedia to have", or what would anyone I can think of want and expect. So if you want to anticipate what I am about to say, ask the same question of yourself.
  • On your point about incidental beliefs like that gays have a problem needing healing, I think that is a minority view of churches. Since it is a pressing social issue that seperates churches, I would expect the minority view on a hot button issue to be in the church artricles of the minority churches, but if it was not that small of a minority, and it was a major concern dividing churches, I would expect it to be in church articles on both sides. In fact, it tells a lot about the church.
  • I will wait for you to tell me what OP means to fully respond. EricDiesel (talk) 21:33, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • one more thing. I haven't read yuour argument yet, but I saw "intelligent design". I have proof that there is no intelligent design. If I was designed, the designer couldn't have been very intelligent. EricDiesel (talk) 21:39, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unintelligent Design

Re your ID contribs and my comment - If you knew me better, your faith would be challenged in the intelligence of any designer. (that's supposed to be a joke, but people who know how stupid I can be all would get it) EricDiesel (talk) 14:30, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A good example of my having been unintelligently designed is my failing to notice that your abbreviation, ID, in an intelligent design paragraph, means intelligent design, especially as you explicitly defined it when you first used it. And I am supposed to be a mathematician! ha EricDiesel (talk) 14:33, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1. You moved the article into the dab space within moments of its creation using what you now conceed was an inaccuracy for your rationale. 2. Redirects exist: see Cəfərli and the redirects that link there. 3. Sometimes, there is no other way to distinguish between two places with the same names. For whatever reason, Azerbaijan has multiple places with the same name in the same political subdivision and there is no other way to distinguish them. 4. Using past names is ok to a point, but many of these are just prior spellings that do not distinguish the places and leave us looking as inaccurate and outdated as falling rain. 5. Coordinates have been used for some places in Latin America and in Africa where the concept of distinct naming hasn't apparently caught on (most of the places in Latin America are named after their churches and there's lots of San Juans, San Joses, etc.; many in Africa are just named "village" in the local tongue).

William J. Leahy Jr

This page was speedy deleted (rather quickly I might add) due to it being my first article and the fact that I just put up a brief description until I could complete the entire page including a full bio and notability context. William J Leahy passed away in a plane crash in Las Vegas on August 28th 2008. Search for "william leahy plane" or "bill leahy plane" as it was nationally covered event (US) with many independent references. It is notable as this event in combination with a separate plane crash at the same airport in the same week certainly awakened larger public concern for smaller airports across the country regarding residential encroachment around airports. Follow up articles have been written regarding congressional awareness (http://www.lvrj.com/news/28344609.html) with more likely following as the NTSB investigation and FOIA requests reveal more information. William J Leahy is notable in a national context in that case, but more so the bio will also cover his humanitarian work as a ferry pilot delivering small airplanes around the world where they then were used in daily humanitarian relief which is no less notable for the risk involved.

This should pass notability requirement. Please undelete the page. MichaeEGR (talk) 18:06, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the prod from the article. It's already been prodded before and the tag was removed, so it's not eligible any longer. Title says most of it. You must have some sort of script set up, because your page says you were offline, and the page was deleted minutes, if not seconds after it was posted. Intelliware

I'm new here (while active user from the very beginning :)) and would like to do this entry right.

The Intelliware page was deleted under (A7 (bio): Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a real person). I understand that the first impulse could be to delete a company page when you're not familiar with it. However, Intelliware is one of the leading Agile software development companies in Canada. It was the only Canadian sponsor of the international Agile 2008 conference; it has created multiple high-profile applications for international clients and has developed their own Agile development process. It also has much better visibility and brand recognition within the Canadian software industry than most of the software companies listed within that section in Wikipedia.

What other information will you require to revert the deletion of this page? --Mtrautma (talk) 1:49, 18 September 2008 (EST)

Jefferson Davis Parish Public Library

You said: "13:13, 22 September 2008 Cobaltbluetony (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Jefferson Davis Parish Library" ‎ (A7 (group): Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a group/company/etc.) (restore)"

This is a public library system, and as far as I know any public library system with multiple branches is notable. If you don't believe so, please use AFD. Anyway, please undo this deletion. Please use speedy sparingly. WhisperToMe (talk) 13:21, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright - In that case, a redirect is certainly *possible* (and this would make it totally unacceptable to speedy, as the information is relevant to the county and a redirect can do this easily). Perhaps what we could do is include this information in the county article for now and then start a discussion somewhere (I'm not sure where) about which multi-branch library systems are notable. Intelliware (cont.)

Hi Tony, You are correct. The listed links were for your information only, not to be included within the article. Here are a couple of additional links:

Let’s say, hypothetically, that I’ve convinced you that Intelliware is making waves within the software industry and it’s place within Wikipedia is much more prominent and backed up by references than ActiveState, Adventus Interactive, Aimetis Corp., Algorithmics Inc., Arius3D Foundation System, Autodesk Media and Entertainment, Avantis, CARIS, Creo, Denno Corporation, ESI Entertainment, Eicon, Groove Games, IUpload, Infonaut, Interfacing Technologies, Intrinsyc, KING Products and Solutions Inc., Late Night Software, Longview Solutions, Navarik, PixelPoint, Rent Magic Software, Reptile Consulting & Services, Simba Technologies, Skyline Aviation Software, SlipStream Data, Software Dynamics, Strategic Information Technology, VisionWorks Solutions, WeCreate, Windmill software, and many more Wikipedia listed companies.

What would be the best way to proceed if Intelliware was much more notable than any of the listed companies (which is a small fraction of hundreds and hundreds of very similar to the listed company pages)? Will reverting the deletion be at all possible as an option or it needs to be resubmitted? Since my article was deleted, should I let someone else within the software industry submit a new article with the same name, or it doesn’t matter who is doing it? I’d very much appreciate your help in entering this article. Best regards, --Mtrautma (talk) 4:20, 22 September 2008 (EST)

Dear Sir, I hope that you will consider reversing the deletion of the Carl Maglio Wikipedia article. This is a notable addition as Carl was drafted (most notably) ahead of Andre Dawson.
