License tagging for Image:Grumpzine.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Grumpzine.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Bayesjack.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Norworthbayes.jpg. The copy called Image:Norworthbayes.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 14:48, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image description editing

It is inappropriate to add a "fair use rationale" to public domain images. "Fair use" applies to limited use in certain contexts of images which are under non free copyrights. Public domain images are not under copyright. Hope this helps, -- Infrogmation 19:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Msmonitortedi.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Msmonitortedi.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 16:35, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

George D. Hay and wikilinks

I agree to a point, but things like occupation(s) of the subject are important enough to be linked, IMHO. And you'd be surprised how many people don't recognize the term "locomotive." As a railfan, I've found that out first-hand. Strange, but true. Realkyhick 19:05, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Beawain.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Beawain.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image:Lstark11.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lstark11.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 01:46, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Mtvfiorilla.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mtvfiorilla.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Andrew c [talk] 16:14, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Larrystark.gif and Image:Afeldstein.jpg

I have tagged two images you uploaded, Image:Larrystark.gif and Image:Afeldstein.jpg, as replaceable. Please read WP:FUC #1. Unfortunately, these relatively bland non-free portraits are reasonably replaceable. Here are some options: go out and take a picture of the individual in questions, contact the individual in question and ask for a GFDL image donation, contact the individual's manager for similar purpose, or to find out public schedule to increase chance of photographing subject, or you could search flickr for images that may work (and make sure the license is OK, or contact the photographer for a GFDL image donation). Also, I noticed some of the fair use rationales you've been adding to other images have been rather week. Please see WP:IDP#Fair_use_rationale. There is a template with a lot of fields you could fill out. Hope this helps.-Andrew c [talk] 01:49, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Art Carney: "too much detail; doesn't fit here"

It was my intention to eventually cite ten different radio series with Carney performances. If mentioning one is "too much detail," we'll never get off the launch pad! Pepso2 13:50, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

A discussion of Carney's radio career would certainly be welcome, but a simple list of radio series goes against general Wikipedia policy discouraging "laundry lists" of examples. Also, such a list does not fit in a paragraph labeled "Early Life". Rather, it belongs in a career section. I've reorganized the article to make room for the radio stuff. Hope that helps you get off the launch pad! --Jeremy Butler 11:49, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Rubeinvent.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 02:50, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hduff.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Hduff.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:02, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Stopme.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Replaceable fair use Image:Wileymill.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Wileymill.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 06:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You need to be bold and find a way for this article to meet the notability criteria in order for this article not to be merged at best. I have a feeling there are sources that exist. --wL<speak·check> 17:56, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Annnbc.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Annnbc.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Seriously...

You know people who usually upload this many fair use images without rationales, ignoring warnings, get blocked for copyright policy violations? It's simple, just write where you got the image, who made it, and why a pic that could be freely modified cannot be found; and you're in the clear. Otherwise people will start blocking. --wL<speak·check> 14:07, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This image is marked GFDL but I don't see any such notice on the website you cited as the source. Can provide a direct link? Dmcdevit·t 08:32, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please be more descriptive than [1] and [2]. At the moment, you are claiming these images are free, when the one has a link to a website where I can't fine the image or any indication of the copyright of the content and claiming that the owner is the subject of the photo, and the other has no indication of source at all, just an author and a copyright. How do you know the copyright status? It still looks from the outside like these were just copied from a website somewhere without regard to the copyright status. Dmcdevit·t 23:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please answer my question? If you don't even give an an explanation, much less a verifiable source, about how you got these images personally from these subjects and had them released under a free license, the images will have o be deleted. Dmcdevit·t 11:46, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paley Center

Great expansions of the Paley Center article. FamicomJL (talk) 14:14, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Sarahmeyers.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Sarahmeyers.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Sarahmeyers.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Basic Design 101

Hi! I saw you edited Ethel and Albert with the comment "Basic design 101: figure facing right goes on left)". While kind of snarky, I think your point is that the article looks more balanced if the subjects in images are facing the text of the article. Problem is, Wikipedia looks like a train wreck when it lays out pictures on the left. Are you using some skin or modification where left-hand pictures actually don't disrupt the rest of the layout? If not, I'm wondering why you'd so aggressively assert that left-hand pictures are better. -- Mikeblas (talk) 16:21, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I wasn't clear. While I suppose it's correct to lay the pictures out on the right in a magazine (or other printed work), we're not editing a magazine. Since the article ends up looking far worse with that layout, why apply it? I thought that one reason you might choose a layout that causes interrupted headers, poor snaking, and a general imbalance is that you've got some Wikipedia skin that doesn't have the bugs the stock skin is using. Is that true? Or should we adjust the layout so it fits the medium? -- Mikeblas (talk) 16:51, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Oonyday.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Oonyday.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Days of Wine and Roses

Hello. I edited the information you added to the article as the info more properly belongs to an article devoted to the televiion show proper. I see you have an intrest in Playhouse 90. Yes, it was a super show and some of the programs need their own article: Marty, that boxing show with Jack Palance, and others. I would do it, but I'm busy with film noir and foreign films at this point. Have a happy holiday season. Best-- ♦ Luigibob ♦ "Talk to Luigi!" 18:52, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Corliss1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Corliss1.jpg.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Stuff about Brodway and telvision can all be included in one small para. I wanted to let you know so we can continue to cooperate here at Wiki. Columbia Workshop

Thanks for the nice comment. I actually should write more, but I got tired for now. I'm thinking of submitting a table of all the shows I've been able to trace, giving brief credits. Don't know that particular Corwin show, but I assume the script is probably available in one of his collections. -- kosboot (talk) 21:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heya - nice pic of Robson, but why did you remove the section heading for Reis? He really was the guy who got it off the ground.-- kosboot (talk) 04:12, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nice comment on the table - they are tough, especially when one needs to have 2 "things" for a single show! But I'm getting the hang of it and am figuring ways to use macros more effectively. I hope you didn't mind that I changed the date of that Meridian 7-1212 recording, since I've never known the first broadcast to have existed (which would have had Herrmann's score - Max Wylie commented on it, that's how we know). I hope to get to the Corwin part soon. Thanks for your help! -- kosboot (talk) 12:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the very nice words on the table. To tell the truth, at least based on what I see in Wikipedia, the preferred way to do this stuff is have a template (which looks better). For example, look at the original Twilight Zone at their Project page: Wikipedia:WikiProject_The_Twilight_Zone and then at an individual episode page (you can select one from the table). But tons of people know the Twilight Zone, while very few know of the Columbia Workshop. ;) -- kosboot (talk) 20:57, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:2000xbig.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:2000xbig.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you for uploading Image:Raymondknight.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Hi Pepso2. Thanks for your recent improvement to this article. Collectonian's point is surely that keeping a list article with the combined tables of contents of all the issues is an honor that we accord to very few magazines. I personally believe that it's justified in the case of Mad, because famous publications deserve more coverage than obscure ones. Irrespective of Collectonian's particular viewpoint, a high-quality list article with lots of references is easier to defend against future requests for its deletion. I haven't studied this one enough to know how it could be improved, but I think your new intro is a step in the right direction. I hope to post again on the Talk but haven't had the time yet.

You are one the of the people who I was hoping to get the attention of, because I think only someone familiar with the magazine would have good ideas for how to improve this article. I read the magazine when I was a kid, but have no idea of how to explain its cultural significance.

I notice that Mad (magazine) is also tagged for needing inline citations, and I sympathize with that tag. We need to get the help of some Mad aficionados who are willing to dig up references. EdJohnston (talk) 18:26, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article M. R. DeHaan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Humberto Bonfante O'Byrne

A tag has been placed on Humberto Bonfante O'Byrne requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. List of people who have disappeared - Paula Jean Welden

I reverted this edit because the information you added (which I believe has already been removed on at least one previous occasion) is not mentioned in the Paula Jean Welden or Donna Tartt articles, and is only very vaguely mentioned (without a relevant reference) in the Shirley Jackson article. Also, I'm not sure it's important enough to be included in such a brief summary. If you can provide proper references and feel this detail is essential to the list, please use the Talk:List of people who have disappeared page to explain - thanks. 208.76.82.4 (talk) 13:33, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, what I wrote above is partly incorrect. I opened the three articles but instead of properly reviewing Paula Jean Welden I must have checked one of the others twice. However, while Paula Jean Welden#Literary linkages does cover this detail, there appears to be no relevant reference, so my suggestion above stands. Apologies for any confusion caused. 208.76.82.4 (talk) 13:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of people who have disappeared - Lew Welch

I reverted this edit because the Lew Welch article states three times that he committed suicide, as did the text you inserted; see also Category:Writers who committed suicide. Therefore it's clearly not a mysterious disappearance. If you think his disappearance was mysterious, and you can provide proper references, please use the Talk:List of people who have disappeared page to explain - thanks. 58.8.4.230 (talk) 06:48, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Slavicwelcher.jpg

I have tagged Image:Slavicwelcher.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Mad (magazine)

I undid this edit you made to Mad (magazine). First of all, you used a blog, which is almost never a reliable source. Also, please don't use seasonal terms ("the fall of..."), because fall happens at a totally different time in the Southern Hemisphere and might confuse our readers from Down Under. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP!) 17:00, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • By the way, what's your opinion of the Mad contributors template? Should we be including semi-regulars who only have appeared in a few issues like Sharry Flenniken, Michael Gallagher, etc.? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP!) 22:52, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think there's a limit to templates; just something reasonable. The template's current size is just about right. It would probably best to limit it to contributors who either have x amount of contributions (say over 100) or are known mainly as Mad contributors (e.g. Elder and Kurtzman, both of whom are way below 100). Flenniken can probably go, but I think Gallagher's had enough contributions to say in the template. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP!) 23:51, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Merely putting "Joe Orlando Dies at 71" inside a set of ref tags does not constitute a reliable source. A reliable source is one that can verified as confirmatory of the information in question. Similarly, merely posting the url to imdb's main page does not support the passage on the TV pilot. The source you cite must specifically confirm the material. If the source is a website, then the exact page that supports the material must be given. Also, please do not place material inside a direct quote if it is not a part of that quote, as you did with the Dave Kehr quote in the Influence section. Your other edits, however, were good ones, and they are appreciated. Thanks. (Diff) Nightscream (talk) 04:05, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:123131hoop.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:123131hoop.jpg.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Image copyright problem with Image:Goodgirls2.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Goodgirls2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

Eunice Quedens

Very nice work on Eve Arden's Our Miss Brooks today. Thanks. I got her autobiography recently and plan to expand the early life paragraphs in her article (she went to my high school). If you look in after I do my addition, I'd be glad to see you clean up my bureaucratic writing style.--Hjal (talk) 04:36, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:Roof.jpg as {{replaceable fair use}}. If you wish to dispute this assertion, please add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}} to the image description page and a comment explaining your reasoning to the the image talk page. Kelly hi! 01:48, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Weemsbeat.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Weemsbeat.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:11, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

August 2008

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images, however, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reason, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. Please note that we take very seriously our criteria on non-free image uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. emerson7 14:35, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John Landau Quote - Real Paper

Hi. You've just undone my change to the famous John Landau / Bruce Springsteen quote in The Real Paper. I understand that there are many sources online that back up the change you've made - but there are just as many to back up the one I did. All I would say is that the one you've reverted to is grammatically inferior (odd, since it was written by a respected Music critic). Can we find out for sure which is the correct quote? David T Tokyo (talk) 18:18, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. As I said - there are many sites that show both quotes. If you want a reference to one that shows it the other way, try the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... [3] Is there any way to get to the original article? David T Tokyo (talk) 19:14, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Ehmercury.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ehmercury.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Frances Crane

Thanks for moving the pictures around -- I think the "Pink Umbrella" scan is more visually ... well, let's say "exciting" -- than the "Golden Box". I wanted to consult with you because I note from the above talk page material that you deal with copyright and images much, much more than I do. If there's anything about these two images that's not correctly done, could I trouble you to tell me what you think it is, and what you think I need to do about it? I'm not sure if I've provided the correct "non-free use rationale", for instance. Thanks in advance for any advice you care to offer. (Incidentally, thanks for all your great work on the old radio shows too!) Accounting4Taste:talk 21:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. I just looked at what you did with editing the description of Pink Umbrella.jpg and all I can say is, it's a miracle that anybody ever gets any scans mounted, considering what you have to go through LOL. Many, many thanks for making it possible for more people to see this. Incidentally, the cover art for both scans is by Rudolph Belarski (you can just barely see the signature in the lower right-hand corner of Applegreen Cat), who is probably worthy of a Wikipedia article in his own right. Is there somewhere that this information would be appropriate? Thanks again. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:45, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Walter Tevis

Thanks for your edits to Walter Tevis to clarify the issues of his wives. Is this really accurate? Walter married Jamie in '57 and stayed with her for 27 years -- which would have meant they split in 1984 -- and then they divorced in time for for Tevis to marry Eleanora before his death later the same year? I know this is possible, but it is unusual, and it seems that the story behind it (if known) is a relevant aspect of his biography. --JohnPomeranz (talk) 00:33, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit to Citgo Article

Great that you're so involved in Wikipedia, Pepso2! I just cruised back by the Citgo article, and noted your sub-topic addition. I'd love to be able to have left it, but "Radio" really doesn't describe what that section is discussing, it still has more weight as overall history of the company, so I changed it back...

I've been gone for quite a while, but I'm now back on Wiki occasionally, correcting and editing. Hope to chat with you again soon, keep up the good work, be vigilant, and have fun! Edit Centric (talk) 16:58, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BRAVO on that latest edit! Looks good, nicely worded, and fits into the history section almost seamlessly. Now you might want to look at the overall timeline, and try moving the edit you made either up or down in the section. IMHO, the three decade radio show, followed by a reference to 1925 legislation, kind of jumps back and forth. I dunno, what do you think? Edit Centric (talk) 04:22, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cities Services Radio

That one's tough. I'll probably need to read it, wait a few days, re-read it, another day or so, and think about it. Edit Centric (talk) 03:31, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! (I tried several options but couldn't find anything.) Pdfpdf (talk) 10:50, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking again, I've already mentioned that link in the body of the article. Why mention it again in an external links section? Pdfpdf (talk) 10:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:CS for proper reference format.

Fair comment. (I guess I was being lazy.) I'll do a better job of it. Please feel free to fix what I don't get right. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 08:43, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask a favour please? Could you have a look at Meals on Wheels and comment on the references? Thanks in anticipation. Pdfpdf (talk) 02:55, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
