Ed Stafford is a British explorer and expedition leader[1] who started running expeditions after retiring from the British Army as a captain in 2002. Ed, a former expelled student of Uppingham School[2] has led several expeditions to Patagonia, Borneo and Belize with Trekforce Expeditions and GVI. Ed has been Country Director of Belize for Trekforce and Patagonia for GVI.

Whilst not leading expeditions Ed worked alongside the United Nations in Afghanistan assisting with the first ever presidential elections advising on security, planning and logistics. Prior to his current expedition Ed was in production with the BBC on their conservation series "Lost land of the Jaguar".

Ed is currently conducting the first ever attempt to walk the entire length of the Amazon River for several charities[3].[4]

In June 2008, Ed's colleague Luke Collyer decided to abandon the attempt to walk the length of the Amazon River expedition leaving Ed to continue solo[5]. He is expected to be at the river's mouth in Brazil in mid 2010.
