Curepto is a commune and town in the Chilean Province of Talca, located in the VII Maule Region. The town has many interesting examples of Chilean rural colonial architecture. The parish church is a particularly attractive example of a traditional religious building in the Spanish-Latin American style. The town itself is an example of the works of the Chilean government in remote rural regions, and of the diversity of cultures that resulted from Spanish colonialism in the region.

Curepto has slowly become more connected to the outside world and influenced by the internet after the launch of the Maule Activa initiative, which aimed at providing accessible internet connectivity to the entire Maule Region.

The Camelia Festival

Known locally as El Festival de la Camelia and named for a flower common to areas south of Santiago, this annual festival has been a great example of Curepto's outgoing influence in the country. It consists of a collective concert that usually includes many of Chile's most popular bands, and receives coverage in radio stations and television throughout the country.

Population

Curepto has an increasing population of 3157 people, 1592 male and 1565 female as of the 2002 census.

Rodeo

Rodeo is a popular sport the country and during the summer months, Curepto's rodeo arena is well used.
