John Resig is a JavaScript Evangelist for the Mozilla Corporation and the creator and lead developer of the jQuery JavaScript library. This library's goal is to simplify the process of writing JavaScript code that is compatible with all web browsers. [1] For his work on jQuery he was inducted into the Rochester Institute of Technology's Innovation Hall of Fame on April 30, 2010. [2]

Resig is the author of the book Pro JavaScript Techniques, published by Apress in 2006.[3][4]. As of 2010, he is working on another book for Manning Publications, Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja, which the publisher plans to release in 2011[5][6].

Resig has also started or contributed to many other JavaScript libraries, including FUEL, a Firefox plugin development kit, [7] Processing.js, a port of the Processing language, and SizzleJS[8], which enhances CSS selectors. [9]

Resig is a frequent guest speaker at companies like Google and Yahoo and has presented at many conferences related to web technology, including SXSW, Webstock, MIX, and Tech4Africa.[10][11][12]

Resig also authored an early mapping hack which employed two Google APIs to convert any US postal address into latitude and longitude coordinates.[13]

He is also the author of a widely read blog, ejohn.org/blog, which he claims has more than 13,000 subscribers.[14]
