Snøhetta is the highest mountain in the mountain range of Dovrefjell, and the tallest mountain outside of the Jotunheimen range, making it the 32nd highest peak in Norway, based on a 10 meter primary factor.

The mountain has several peaks:

  • Stortoppen, its highest prominence at 2,286 meters, The Norwegian Army has set up a radio link station on top of this summit that is run with a diesel generator. For this reason, many recommend Vesttoppen as a better destination.
  • Hettpiggen, at 2,261 meters
  • Vesttoppen, at 2,253 meters

Under good conditions in both summer and winter, the ascent is relatively easy. Common starting points are Reinheim, Snøheim, or Åmotdalshytta.
