Season of the Sun (太陽の季節, Taiyō no Kisetsu) is a Japanese novel written in 1955 by the current Governor of Tokyo Shintaro Ishihara. It is the source of the name of the rebellious, taiyozoku (太陽族) youth culture which emerged after World War II.[citation needed] The novel won the 1955 Akutagawa Prize.
