Tony Trujillo (born August 23, 1982) is an Native-American-Mexican(chicano) professional skateboarder. He is recognized for his love for heavy metal music, as well as an aggressive skating style.[1]

Early life

Trujillo was born in Santa Rosa, California, United States (US), and grew up on a farm with 100 acres (0.40 km2) of land. He started skating at the age of seven and Trujillo was often invited to skate on the ramps in his neighbor's barn.[2] Trujillo started competing in skate contests when he was 12 in the California Amateur Skateboard League, winning one at the age of 12 and placing in numerous others.[1]

Anti-Hero

At the age of fourteen, Trujillo was first sponsored by Anti-Hero and he was assigned professional status with the company two years later.[1]

Vans

Trujillo has a signature shoe line with Vans and the company produced two commercials, shot by Stacy Peralta, to advertise the shoe (Trujillo appeared in both).[3]

As of 2011, Trujillo is sponsored by Anti-Hero, Spitfire, Independent, Vans, and Fourstar.[4]

Awards

On December 7, 2002, Thrasher Magazine announced that Tony had been voted their thirteenth annual Skateboarder Of The Year.[5]

Contest history

August 2005 Trujillo placed 2nd in San Jose, CA in the Mountain Dew Tour.[citation needed]

On August 3, 2008, Trujillo won bronze in X Games 14 Superpark competition.[citation needed]

Music

Trujillo plays bass and vocals in a band with Jake Phelps and his wife, Ashley "Trixie" called Bad Shit. The band mostly travels outside the US covering places like Prague, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, China, and Australia.

Personal life

Trujillo married Bad Shit drummer, Ashley Trujillo, and has a son Waylon born in December 2008.
