Vans (originally: Van Doren Rubber Company ) is an American sports shoe manufacturer that has focused on products for trend sports such as skateboarding , snowboarding , surfing and BMX .
history
On March 16, 1966, Paul Van Doren and his partners James Van Doren, Gordy Lee and Serge D'Elia opened the first Vans shop in Anaheim ( California , USA ) .
In 1966, the Hi-Top, or today Sk8-Hi , was the world's first shoe that was specially designed for skateboarding. It is similar in appearance to the Chucks by Converse , but is much more stable and firmer. Today it is produced in changing colors and patterns, but the waffle pattern of the sole is still based on the original.
On March 19, 1976, the company launched the first two-color shoe (red and blue). The design came from the then rising skateboarders Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva , who were part of the Zephyr Skate Team .

One of the most famous Vans models is the Vans slip on , a low-top, without laces , to slip on . Like the Chucks, this one is available in many different colors and designs. a. also with black and white checkered pattern (name used: checkerboards ).
Today Vans Off The Wall operates a sales network that extends over 50 states in the USA and 190 of its own Vans stores.

Nowadays, Vans are one of the trend shoes. For example, you had an appearance on the cult youth series OC, California , on the series worn by Seth Cohen ( Adam Brody ). Corey Taylor (frontman of the band Slipknot) wore the shoes in the video "Before I forget". Brian O'Conner ( Paul Walker ) also frequently wears Vans shoes in the Fast and Furious film series . But the shoes are also popular in the hip-hop scene. However, the Sk8-Hi are not sold as often as the slip-ons.
