Steve Caballero (born November 8, 1964 in San José , California ) is a professional American skateboarder and also active as a musician .

Career

Steve was born with scoliosis , which results in his head tilting slightly to one side. He was born in the year of the dragon , which is also strongly reflected in his skateboard graphics. He started skating at the age of twelve. When he was fifteen, he was sponsored as an amateur skater by Powell Peralta . His breakthrough came in 1980 and he became a pro skater at Oasis Skatepark in Southern California during the Gold Cup series . "Cab" is a member of the Bones Brigade and appeared in several of their videos. Caballero also made the cover of skater magazine Thrasher multiple times and is a playable character in parts 2 through 5 of the Tony Hawk's Skateboarding video game series .

Private life

Caballero is a member of various punk bands : The Faction , Odd Man Out , Shovelhead and Soda . He has also released a sampler on Sessions Records , with songs from his bands. His other hobbies include painting, collecting toys, riding motocross , collecting vintage skateboards and hot rods . Caballero is divorced from his first wife, with whom he has a daughter named Kayla Leslie. He remarried on July 14, 2006, to a woman named Rachel. He was also a Catholic , then a Zen Buddhist, and is now a Pentecostalist .
