Arthur Widmer (1914 - May 28, 2006) was a film special effects pioneer. He invented the Ultra Violet Traveling Matte process, an early version of what would become known as bluescreen. Widmer received an Academy Award for lifetime achievement in 2004.

Widmer, began his career at Eastman Kodak Co.'s research laboratories before heading to Hollywood with the introduction of Kodak's color film processing in the late 1940s. Widmer worked for Warner Bros. in the 1950s and Universal Studios from 1964 - 1979 when he retired.
