You are obviously not really on a vacation becasue you revert things all the time almost instantly evwen if the edits are not vandalism. So if you are not on a vacation then you should tell the truth and remove the template saying that you are on a Semi-Wiki vacation.

helped clean up some vandalism on your page--~~~~ 02:21, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added a vandalism warning here with Vandalproof, which I've removed. It seems that Vandalproof can do a revert right after you have reverted vandalism, and then it warns the one who fixed it. I only spotted it because it told me i was warning an admin. Kevin 13:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my page. You're fast. Anonymous_anonymous_Have a Nice Day 17:14, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Autoblock

That's not really what I meant, because this user has only edited mine and his page. What I was thinking was that this was done delibratly so I would have trouble. Mahogany

STOP REVERTING MY EDITS-Taracka

Quick question regarding The Beatles

You rv'd an IP a short while ago who had changed quite a lot of the article content. After your initial rv, the anon repeated his/her same edits. Another editor has made a few changes to the article since then. I am not a regular editor on that particular article. I only noticed it because it popped up in my VandalProof watchlist and I traced back a few steps just to see the recent edit history. From your last version to the current one, there appears to be large amounts of text missing including several citations. Perhaps, if you have time, you could take another peek and see if everything looks OK. I'd hate to see an FA suddenly go off track because of 1 bad editor. Cheers and take care! I noticed that you've blocked the IP address of Bar Ilan University three times over the past week. I would like it if you would block for shorter periods of time, given that it is the IP address of over 30,000 students. Please note that Bunchofgrapes blocked that IP address for only 15 minutes, and there was no vandalism for hours after that. Please also notice that this vandal is trying to get the university blocked, and he has been placing fake vandalism warnings on the talk page for that reason. Pan-STARRS

Hi Curps, you wrote in Pan-STARRS "Also, among currently known comets there is a bias favoring those with short perihelion distances. Overcoming this current observational bias will enable a more complete picture of solar system dynamics". AFAIK this bias comes only fom the fact that comets are brighter closer to the sun (and closer to the earth) - so the bias will still be there, although smalle and moe distant comets will be observed. Icek 02:04, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is from reading the paper by David Jewitt, as given in the external links [3]. See p. 469 (section 2.2, Comets). I will borrow the exact wording of the paper and change "overcoming" to "reducing the effects of". -- Curps 06:03, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if you get a notice of these. Thought I'd share since it showed up on #vandalism:

Reverting using Popups

Hi,

It wasn't popup's fault and even if I were to do it manually, it would have happened as it I wasn't in my best of alert minds when I did it. I was doing RCP and reverting vandalism. I guess some slips can occur with anyone. Anyway, thanks for pointing it out. I will be more careful now. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Block of 147.91.173.31

Hi, you blocked 147.91.173.31 indefinetly for being an open proxy. But, that unfortunately caused problems for contributors from University of Novi Sad, so I unblocked it. I understand that some vandalism originated from this IP, but I think indefinite block is a bit to much since some legitimate users like User:Duja use it... --Dijxtra 09:32, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA/On being a robot

After having a conversation on IRC about you really being a bot, I randomly looked you your RFA. This (in response to Q1) made me smile: "Also perhaps occasional blocking.... So it would be nice to do such things myself occasionally without having to seek out an admin."

And to Q3: "I never get stressed out or emotional" <--See you really are a bot ;)

Anyway, hope you're enjoying your break, and you don't mind looking back at where you came from :) Petros471 20:30, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Auto reversion?

Hi, I had a page into which I put a huge amount of work reverted in less than a minute (see Therianthropy, and I checked your page and it said you were on vacation. AOL dos issue

Hello Curps.

  • This user got blocked.
  • A large number of IPs got autoblocked as a result, in a short time.
  • This suggests a shared IP, almost certainly AOL.
  • I've received a request to place this template on the userpage. It's a minor issue; however I'd rather not place such a template indefinitely without having confirmation that the underlying ISP is indeed AOL. Do you mind running a check? Because I'm fairly sure it will be confirmatory, I'll place the template first; feel free to remove it if the check reveals otherwise.

The account went haywire, eg: [5] and pagemove vandalism as well, and the recent edits aren't encouraging [6]. -- Curps 09:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is my attack

Well, I hace confessed to vandalizing for the past several months, and for permanently scarring my reputation. I want to state now that Tex's contention that I haven't left is entirely false, I only came back on the 23rd to voice my opinion against RobChurch, and his RfA. Well, my attack: I am sorry for being the CIyde vandal and for my attacks on John Reid. I am sorry that I came here, stressing myself, and others out. To further emphasize this, I did create an account with the intention of it being constructive after a three month long meltdown. Hopefully, I will be able to edit constructively, and I am sorry for all the trouble I cause. Yes, people reform, and to be honest, the point of the vandalism was to attract attention to what I see as incivility, and the reasons several of my friends have left here. But vandalism is vandalism, so I better quit before I get in trouble. I am sorry I was ever apart of the project. I DONT want to be a Brian Chase. But, at least I did edit here constructively for a year and three months before I went haywire.εγκυκλοπαίδεια*14:34, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Flameviper12 protesting block

He's protesting your last indefinite block. I removed his {{unblock}} template and told him that there was no chance of me unblocking unless he pledged to stop adding nonsense (he does seem to have made proper contributions in the past), to which he responded with a rather nonsensical apology. See for yourself and decide if you're convinced. --Sam Blanning(talk) 14:45, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After some brief strife, he's changed his apology to one which, to me, sounds fairly sincere. I would still like your thoughts on whether the indefinite block is warranted. --Sam Blanning(talk) 15:58, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Two users with almost identical names

Hi, Curps. I see from your user page that you're on semi wikivacation, so I won't blame you if you don't answer this. A user For_great_justice. (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) was blocked for 3RR, and continues to be abusive on his talk page. I was looking for his (or her) user page, and forgot the dot at the end when I was typing it, so I got the page of For_great_justice (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), who was blocked by you in February. It seems suspicious that this user would have such a similar name, and I'm wondering is an indefinite block in order. I notice that there are no contributions for the user you blocked, but I have sometimes found it necessary to remove contributions from page histories, or to delete newly-created articles, while blocking vandals, so I presume that was the case here. It makes it difficult for me to judge the connection of the new user to the old one, though. Have you any recollection of the case? Thanks. AnnH 23:06, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it's very plausible that the users are not related. "For great justice" is a quote from the All your base are belong to us meme, it's likely that the second user chose it independently, and finding the original choice already taken simply appended a "." I have no recollection of the original user. -- Curps 09:45, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help.

Hey...

I am one of the people who run the Darkonin, a kingdom in the online Mud Dark and Shattered Lands. Some people are trying to get it deleted due to lack of "notablility." I got your name off the World of Warcraft history, if you would post on the talk page about how it is sort of notable, as if that isn't notable, neither is anything about World of Warcraft, or many a fantastical novel.

Thanks.

Can you delete my talk page's history? You'll the only one who will do it. (Oahc)

Farewell for now...

I am getting set to leave for New York City by 11 o'clock. I won't be with you Wikipedians until tomorrow morning. After clearing my user page, my next edits will be based in America.

Blind reversions

I would appreciate it if you would actually check what you are reverting. You reverted Discospinster after he undid a paragraph deletion. You then reverted me when I tried to fix your mistake.--67.15.151.90 21:11, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Seriously, what is your problem? Do you think the paragraph deletion and the insertion of the word "nipples" was correct? Are you just too lazy to type anything? Or, are you just an asshole who doesn't really care about vandalism?--67.15.151.90 21:20, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Take it easy with the abusive language. I happen to agree with the text that you are trying to keep, and it is entirely possible that your edits are being reverted because you are an anonymous user. Curps: please take time to review this content before reverting this user's changes. LaMenta3
Indeed. Curps, could you please explain why you think this is simple vandalism? Because if it isn't, then you've both violated the WP:3RR pretty badly. Petros471 21:32, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Curps, it is my conclusion that you are running an anti-vandal bot with rollback on this account. As this does not seem to have been documented, discussed, or approved, I have raised the issue for discussion at WP:ANI. Dragons flight 22:16, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I find it extremely interesting that you haven't responded to any of these accusations, yet you still manage to block numerous accounts with the generic summary of "vandalism" (and I know that you're active right now and that you have read this page). If you ARE running an unauthorized bot, you should at least have the integrity to admit it. I know that you're very smart, and you probably don't care about what a measly IP address user thinks, but the level of cockiness that you are showing right now will eventually be rejected by the community. It's ok to be rogue, but it's another thing to think that YOU make the rules 141.151.12.23 03:47, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
