Pleasant Groves is a town in Jackson County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town was 447.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.8 km²), of which, 3.8 square miles (9.8 km²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 447 people, 166 households, and 138 families residing in the town. The population density was 118.4 people per square mile (45.8/km²). There were 177 housing units at an average density of 46.9 per square mile (18.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 89.04% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 5.37% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 5.59% from two or more races. 0.22% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 166 households out of which 42.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.5% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.3% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the town the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
