Iltalehti (literally "Evening newspaper")[1] is a daily tabloid newspaper published in Finland
History and profile
Iltalehti was established in 1980[2] as afternoon edition of newspaper Uusi Suomi.[citation needed] Alma Media is the owner of Iltalehti[2] which is based in Helsinki.[3]
Petri Hakala is among the former editors-in-chief of the paper.[3] On 1 September 2010 Panu Pokkinen was appointed to the post.[4]
The circulation of the paper was 105,059 copies in 1993.[5] In 2002 Iltalehti had a circulation of 132,836 copies in weekdays.[3] As of 2008 the paper was the third largest newspaper in Finland.[6] Of tabloid newspapers, Iltalehti had a market share of 40% and its biggest (and only) rival Ilta-Sanomat had a market share of 60% in 2008.[6]
The internet version of the paper was the most popular news website in Finland as of November 2008.[citation needed]
