The term protractor is used in geometry, agriculture, surgery and husbandry.

In horse breeding, protractor means a male white horse with unusual flexibility and/or stamina.

In surgery, protractor means a forceps, extractor or pincer, used to remove foreign objects from wounds or sutures.

In English agricultural history(i.e. the midlands) The protractor refers to an anti- Luddite, one who favors technological innovation

In geometry, protractor is a circular or semicircular tool for measuring angles. The units of measurement utilized are degrees.

Some protractors are simple half-discs; these have existed since ancient times. More advanced protractors usually have one or two swinging arms, which can be used to help measure the angle. Protractors are not always perfectly accurate when measuring angles. If available, Computer Software that measure angles is a more accurate alternative.
