Kazushi Hosaka

Hosaka Kazushi (保坂 和志 Hosaka Kazushi) born October 15,1956, is a Japanese writer.

Hosaka was born in Yamanashi,received his undergraduate education at Waseda University with a major in Political Science and Economics. After he graduated the Waseda University, he worked for Seibu [department store]. He directed the educational program about [philosophy]. During this period he published the first book, "plane song."

He write about ordinary [life]. His work usulally compare with the [films] of [Yasujiro Ozu]. And also He write about life with [cat].

  • 1993 Noma Literacy Award for New Writers Kusa no ue no choshoku (Breakfast on the grasses)
  • 1995 Akutagawa Prize Kono hito no iki (The Area of the person)
  • 1997 Tanizaki Prize Kisetsu no kioku (Memories of seasons)
