EX Dragon Frontiers will be the thirty-first Pokémon Trading Card Game set when released by Pokémon USA, Inc. on November 8. It will be the last third-generation set. The set is based on an unknown island far away, inhabited only by Delta Species Pokémon. It marks the final appearance of Delta Species Pokémon, after they debuted in EX Delta Species, returned in EX Holon Phantoms, and most recently appeared in EX Crystal Guardians in August 2006. The next set after EX Dragon Frontiers will be based on the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games.

Journey further than any Trainer has ever been when you explore the islands where powerful Dragon Pokémon rule. In EX Dragon Frontiers you'll find rare Pokémon-ex Delta Species, long awaited Pokémon-*, and new ways to do battle like you've never seen before.

New Attack Effects

Template:Spoiler-blank Two Delta Species theme decks were released in Japan alongside Dragon Frontiers; Seal and Thunderquake. Seal was based on Gardevoir ex, and Thunderquake on Tyranitar ex. These are similar to Burn and Poison markers, but have the added effect of being able to be put on Benched Pokémon.

Imprison

Seal, known in English as "Imprison", is Gardevoir's attack effect, and involves putting an Imprison marker on a Pokémon. When it is on a Pokémon, that Pokémon cannot use any Poké-Powers or Poké-Bodies. Only Gardevoir ex has this Poké-Power.

Shock-wave

Shock-wave is Tyranitar ex's marker effect. It involves putting a Shock-wave marker on any of your opponent's Pokémon and then knocking it out. Tyranitar ex's Electromark attack reads, "Put a Shock-wave marker on 1 of your opponent's Pokémon." Its Shock-wave attack reads, "Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon that has any Shock-wave markers on it. That Pokémon is Knocked Out." Template:Endspoiler

Types of Pokémon in EX Dragon Frontiers

Pokémon-ex

Pokémon-ex are incredibly powerful. Their HP are usually far above that of their regular form, and they are much stronger. On occasions, some Pokémon-ex, such as Steelix ex, have two Resistances, and some have no Weakness. Some, however, such as Dustox ex, have two Weaknesses, putting them at a disadvantage. Another disadvantage of Pokémon-ex is that when Knocked Out, the player who has done so must take two Prize cards instead of the usual one. All the Pokémon-ex in Dragon Frontiers are Dragon-type Pokémon: Altaria; Dragonite; Flygon; Kingdra; Latias; Latios; Salamence; and Rayquaza. Two more Pokémon-ex will join them for the release in North America and Europe: Gardevoir and Tyranitar from special Delta Species theme decks released in Japan.

Pokémon-*

Pokémon-* tend to be fairly similar to Pokémon-ex in that their HP are sometimes elevated and they can sometimes be stronger than their regular counterparts. However, this is not as regular in Pokémon-* as it is in Pokémon-ex. Pokémon-* usually appear in sets in groups of three; for example, Mudkip, Treecko and Torchic and Regirock, Regice and Registeel. Only one Pokémon-* may be put in a deck, regardless of whether it is a 30-card deck or a 60-card deck. Only two Pokémon-* reside in EX Dragon Frontiers; Charizard and Mew.

Delta Species Pokémon

Delta Species Pokémon are Pokémon that have had their genes modified, causing a disturbance in their regular pattern - as well as their natural types and sometimes weaknesses. The Japanese set consists only of Delta Species Pokémon; a total of 63 of them, including 8 Pokémon-ex and two Pokémon-*. Delta Species Pokémon from Thunderquake and Seal theme decks will also be included. This is the last set to include the species. According to the description released on September 1, all Pokémon in the set will be Delta Species. This has not yet been confirmed, though is very likely.

Worlds 2007

The set will be a legal set in Worlds 2007, which is EX Deoxys onwards.
