Ayawaso Central is located in the Accra Metropolitan Area of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.[1] It is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana and also part of the 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region.[2][3]

The Municipal Assembly was carved out of Accra Metropolitan Area.[4]The municipal capital is Kokomlemle.[5]
